I have 2014 f150 screw 6.5 foot bed 6.2L max tow, off road package 3.73 gears. I am thinking 4-6" lift and 35" tires would 18" rims or 20" rims be better for towing and or hauling will be pulling 8000-9000 lb TT. Won't be towing far 30 minutes to local parks occasionally a 3-4 hour run but few and far between. Thanks for the input

The ones that I have seen laying on their sides probably thought they knew it all too.

There are some good solid 35" tires out there. It's raising the center of gravity is what get's them!

As I said earlier seeing them wrecked and flipped and blew over by wind on the hwy give the total height of the truck would increase by 7 inches +- give me a fing break. Its one thing to have the tool in the shed its another to be smart enough to use it. 16 yrs towing with mildly lifted trucks ZERO issues i must know how to use it. Not talking Bigfoot here people

Should have listened to a long time poster on here I read of his. He said don't post anything about a lifted truck since it is a sin on this forum to tow with a lifted truck. Cuz none of my questions were addressed just telling me that towing with lifted truck is a bad idea which you have zero experience with. My guess is a bunch of middle to older guys on here who view a lifted modded truck as a punk ride or something idk pretty sad I've been doing it for 16 yrs and I'm wrong. Justed asked if anyone had a truck like the one I ordered and how it towed anyway thanks for nothing but irritating me I'll be deleting account on here so you can go on ragging on the topic like a bunch of high school girls

Show me the math that a 35" tire will reduce the max tow to 9000. Anyone can pull numbers out of the air to defend their argument against a lifted truck towing a camper a few hundred miles to the absolute max of a 1000 miles in a year I've done it for 16 years. How many lifted trucks have you towed with? My guess is 0 so your experience after all of my calculations brings me right back to oh yeah ZERO

One look at a 6 inch lift and 35 tires and warranty is toast.
Also big tires will give you a 3.42 ratio

Not that it matters to the OP. He has already made up his mind. But If the bigger tires do in fact drop the rear ratio to 3.42. that is going to REDUCE his tow capacity to 9000lbs. Taking into account that every pound you load into the truck reduces the tow capacity even more

You WILL be over loaded.

Have fun.

Truck is rated for 11100 current TT is 8300 lbs loaded and wet so I see no problem. Of the new TT's we are looking at 9000-9500 wet and loaded is the heaviest we will get. And further more we are talking less than 1000 miles a year towing camper. So there again don't see the issue. Have all of you who are so against a mildly lifted truck towing, have you ever had one and or towed with it?? Because I have! Just because you have the tool in the shed doesn't mean you know how to use it

From what I can find the rims I'm looking at most have a 3220 weight rating? Sound right

The best thing to do is leave the truck at stock height and stock sized tires. The lift and larger tires will reduce he towing capacity.

As for wheels I like xd monsters. But just for its looks so far haven't checked into air pressure and load ratings

Tires will most likely be GY duratracs that's what had on last truck 05 fx4 3" lift the tires were 35" and they did flawless with current camper about 650 TW. 8300 gross. And installer/ seller has been doing tires wheels and lifts for 20+ years. Lift is BDS best on market

Comes down to what's more important, the hey look at me mods or a occasional of to the camp grounds choice...the 2 aren't a good mix unless all of the associated issues are addressed, because the additional costs of getting it right don't appeal to the average user.

Tire size depends on weight ratings so do the research. The big problem with changing wheels is the new rims max weight capacity and air pressure. A lot of the aftermarket wheels are seriously handicapped due to design and material. This same advice goes for the lift equipment. Speak with a knowledgable aftermarket installer. Done right it will be fine... done wrong and very bad things happen.

Tounge weight for campers we are looking at is between 600-750 lbs. My current camper 2001 wilderness 8300 gvw which I pulled with 05 fx4 3" lift and 35" tires locally and the date 1-2 hour trip without any regret. Had WD hitch and sway confrol
