You have taught him well! Except he was absent on the day about the two different rear air systems.

Don't even consider a 2500 diesel. It costs the same as a 3500 srw, rides identical to a 3500 SRW and by the time you load a few passengers in it there is no payload left for a trailer. Get a 3500 SRW.
Actually they don't ride identical
The 2500 with the coil spring rear rides smoother
Oops..... I was thinking how GM and Ford just add an overload spring to the heavy duty 3/4 ton to make it a 1 ton srw. I didn't realize Ram did things different. My main point, however, is that the diesel 3/4 ton is heavy and with a 10,000 lb gvwr it only has about 1700 lbs of payload. Load up a family and you can only pull a tent trailer before you go over the gvwr.
Actually the new '17 and up Ford F350 has a different rear end and spring pack compared to a F250.
And RAM 3500 has a leaf spring pack compared to the 2500 coils and different rear frame section to provide clearance for the coil springs.

The weight ratings of the Ram 2500 makes it a bit of an odd duck. 10,000lbs GVWR.....yes. But if you look at the RAWR and FAWR you'll see the truck totals up to 12,500! Drivetrain, axles, and brakes are the same as 3500SRW.
I have the 5-link coil rear suspension and a set of Timbrens. My 5er is 16,000lbs GVWR and the truck handles it extremely well. I've never run over a scale so I can't tell you if I'm within weight police compliance. I CAN tell you there is no excess squat and the whole setup handles very nicely .

^ Crazy talk like that will get you booted off the fourm! Rule #1. And I quote “Thou shalt weigh thy vehicle with everything including the kitchen sink and extra 2 ply buttwipe before thou is allowed to post or pull a RV.”
BTW, rule #2 is “3/4tons are worthless for more than 3 bags of groceries or 2 golf club bags and thou shalt not exceed the artificially manufactured gvw limits without fear of prosecution (maybe it persecution) by the RVNWP. “ (rvnet weight police). This is similar to removing a tag from your pillow....

YOU are the person always recommending mods that can void warranty without mentioning that it's a possibility doing so.
