2017 Super Duty is *****

Wow. Went to drive one yesterday and what a pickup it is. F350 ECSB 4x4 Diesel is what I drove. Tons and tons of power, good braking, amazing interior. Good ride, great capability for hauling and towing. ECSB is perfect size for inner city job sites.

Only three problems with the new truck:
1. Wish the 350 SRW came with an 11.5" rear end not 10.7" like Dodge and GM. I overload on our ranch on a weekly basis.
2. Like the new Duramax, the new engine is too quiet. I don't want a 6.0 clatter, but some noise is reassuring.
3. Too expensive. Holy **** these things cost an arm and a leg. Suppose that's 2017 class 3 truck buying for ya.

I really want my forever truck for my upcoming birthday present to myself. If I had the money I'd buy one of each as the Ford, the Dodge (I'm still calling it that, okay) and Chevy make tremendous 1-tons. If I were going dually the choice would be simple as the wide track front end on the F450 is tremendous, unique and a deal maker for me. But as my daily driver I want a SRW, especially with the F550 tatty but still mostly alive and kicking for the really big jobs.

I hope this post won't get bashed as a waste of time. I merely wanted to show that, unlike all too many here, I'm not a brand worshipping sheep. I've slammed Ford for their 6.0 and 6.4 engine disasters, and for running the same floppy frame for 25 years when the others changed theirs. But now, I think the Super Duty is top of the pile. Engine, frame, interior the whole kit and caboodle is top notch.

It's likely going to come down to what 1-ton SRW 4x4 diesel I can get the best deal on. I know whether it's the 2017 GM Duramx, Dodge Cummins or Ford PSD anyone who owns one is one lucky SOAB.

You have the best diesel that Ford ever put in a pickup by far. And it's a cherry with that low mileage! :B

I wouldn't even consider selling that truck. I looked long and hard for a cherry 7.3L Lariat DRW crew cab before buying my truck and couldn't find one. If you ever did want to sell it be prepared for many calls and it going within a day or two for top dollar!

when I was shopping I looked at a ram 3500drw limited and it was a little cheaper than my ford, by about $1k.

I don't know about 2017, but 2016 f350 platinum was the highest package.

I think having paid $60k for a $74k truck was a fair deal, I did a search within 300 miles from my house of all 3 brands. the ram I looked at was 72 and they would only initially take 5k off, I left. at the time of my purchase there wasn't even a Denali dually in New England or NY to be found and I wasn't ordering a truck.

I thought you got a DRW Platinum? I would have thought a Platinum DRW truck would not have stickered for less than 76K or so. My SRW Ram stickered for 78K.

The loaded Ford SRW trucks have been just a little more expensive than the loaded dually. I'm not certain if this is still the case for 2017 but it makes sense that it would be.

Maybe in Canada but down here in New England long bed dually was $1600 more than a shortbed SRW base price.

BTW my "6 skinny 17" tires are mounted on alum rims and were ordered with the upgraded off road "not as skinny" tires.

The previous model Fords were priced such that a loaded short box was a couple hundred dollars more than a loaded dually. In 2017 the basic Ford Platinum with ultimate package dually has a msrp of $1680 more than a similarly equipped SRW in the USA and in Canada the Platinum trim dually is now $1850 more than a SRW short box. (MSRP of 88599 vs 86749) I have no idea why the change.

So the Platinum has different package options? Maybe that's why the MSRP on his Platinum is lower than I would have thought. With Ram, when you get the "Limited", that is the package. There are only a couple things you can add as options to the limited that are not standard. Things like air suspension or cold weather package or like in my case DRW. All the bells and whistles are otherwise standard.

Can't wait to yank my wagon down the road and up the mountain with it. Ford has the best HD trucks, hands down. My 2 cents worth.

I agree, especially in the gas engine version! Make that 4 cents worth of opinion! :C

Wasn't there just a thread about how much cheaper the Ram was than Ford? Looks like MSRP is pretty comparable among the big three.

Only option this does NOT have is auto dim headlights and wipers so the price is going to be up there. I am sure the 17's are even more. I did NOT buy my truck based on the other two trucks pricing. I ended up about 12K or so off the price on the left. MSRP really does not matter as much as what people are actually paying out the door.

This I understand but what about the fenders, cab and rear clearance lights, and in the case of the Ram overload springs? Certainly there is a cost to all of that which is why it is a $1200 option for the Ram.
