A request from your new mod

Hi. Maybe some of you have noticed but Reddog1 (Wayne) is no longer moderating the TC forum and I volunteered to step in. Full disclosure, I don't own a TC (motorhome) and my DW won't let me get a pickup truck (had a beautiful 67 GMC with the big V-6 years ago tho). Regardless I'll do my best to keep the discussions on track and civil.

One request: when posting pics, keep them under 640X480 resolution. If you use the rv.net photo posting site here it automatically sizes the pics.

The issue is that some browsers hide the scroll bar in everything but full screen mode and large pics scroll the text off to the right where it's hard to read.

Thanx for your cooperation. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of your here.

Wayne was a lot of fun.... the perfect camping buddy before he took the moderators job.

I sure hope that he is able to take a deep breath and get back to having fun with his beautiful wife and family. Jim and Sheila will be having a great time again now that Wayne can relax and ignore the internet.

Thanks for all that you have contributed Wayne

I've been moderating other forums for the last 13 years. You can burn out or get the feeling that things are getting too personal at times. I have not not let negativity affect my volunteerism and attempt to inject some of my dry humor into those difficult moments. JPlante4, Enjoy the ride on the TC side.

Bigfootford, you sum it up very well. I think I was mod for about 10 years and I’m pretty sure Wayne has been mod much longer than that. I will always be thankful to Wayne for coming onboard when he did. I was struggling as the only TC mod and Wayne was perfect as co-mod. As I have told Wayne many times, I don’t regret becoming a forum mod, but I do regret staying as long as I did. There are some fun things about being a mod, but after a while, it just kind of turns into a lot of hours and work. Four or five years would have been plenty for me. Wayne, thanks again for the support you gave me and all the time and effort you donated to keep the forum running over the last decade.

As a close friend to Wayne, I am surprised that he lasted as long as he did.

He worked hard and long hours for the TC forum through the large growth of the TC forum in the early years. He and Brad had their hands full for sure.

The TC forum has matured and many of the controversial topics have been hashed over very well to the point many understand and thus we have not had to re-invent the subject.

Converters, flooded wet cell/agm batteries , inverters, solar, tires, weight police, keeping warm/wave3's/Platnumcat's and the list goes on... are examples.

I believe that the TC'ers for the most part are more prone to explore modifications etc to meet their needs. Thus more understanding of how things work instead of having a turnkey RV.

At the last TC rally I was going to do a little talk and hands on for the use of a DVM... Well that did not happen... Everyone at the rally knew how to use a DVM and all could talk about voltage and resistance fluently...hahahaaa...

Anyway, I want to thank Wayne for his devotion to this forum and also Brad... I believe the forum is what it is today because of them....

Wayne gave no reason and Admin didn't press him. I didn't get the impression that it was any one thing or person. Sometimes you get to the point where you have to ask yourself if it's worth it. When the answer becomes no, you should hang it up.

No new ways. If you're referring to the size of the pics-----

haha... I was so not thinking or referring to the pics.

More along with this line of thinking...

There's actually another where it says 800 is ok, but 640 is preferred.

Welcome and thank you. Our previous moderator did a great job setting the standard pretty high. I think this is the best forum on rv.net. A good example of this is the truck camper photo thread. If you look at it is is almost all pics. If you look at the photo thread in the other forums there is a lot of discussion instead of pics.

Mostly due to T/C moderator periodically deleting posts that are discussion only, otherwise it would be more cluttered than others...
that and resizing pictures.

Wish the new mod luck with the picture size request-

Can we expect script update any time soon?
Most of internet has automatic picture resizing. I don't have to worry what size picture I link/downolad as script does that for me.
Also new scripts have icons showing topics with my replies and dozen other functions that this script lacks.

Admin’s post in the forum support area says 800, with 640 recommended width.

No new ways. If you're referring to the size of the pics, it's a site wide issue and I receive several "notify the moderator" emails a week about picture size on the 2 forums I moderate. Most of the time, I'll just go ahead and change them myself, but when there's 10 pics in a post or I can't follow the link, I need to get the OP to do it or delete the post. I hate deleting post, but when moderating a forum makes me late for work (this has happened), I need to draw a line. Everyone's cooperation will make things go easier for all.
