A warning for my BBQ'ing friends

We have had a rash (5) of folks going to the ER with steel bristles lodged in their tongue/throat lately. Everything is being made cheaper these days and I guess BBQ brushes are no exception.

The recommendation is to wipe down your grill with a wet cloth after brushing. 🙂

I use these... I also dunk it in water so I basically am steam cleanning my grill..

I have used this type on my home $3000 grill for over 12 years...
I quit the wire type, brass and steel brushes years ago..

Stay away from stainless so that the doc can find the bristle with a magnet. 😉

Thanx for the heads up. I personally just burn off the stuff the next time we fire up the grill.

I noticed wire pieces on the grill several years ago. I got the stainless steel brush off my welding machine trailer and used it. It worked so well, next time I went to the welding supply, I bought one for both grills. They work great and (apparently) last forever. AND they're made in the USA!

Use a piece of wadded-up aluminum foil. It works as well as most brushes.

Yup, same here. The BBQ brushes don't last.
Good old fashioned welding brush lasts forever

I noticed the same thing with the last few grill brushes I bought, which were both fine bristle brushes made in you-know-where.

I threw them away and started buying the coarse bristle, wooden handle brushes typically used for mechanical, welding, and painting chores.

I can't believe we put up with this junk.
