The old GMT-900, when the Duramax and 8.1L were the kings of the hill for diesel and gas, model years 00-07....used to see a zillion of them on the road, and now none....Maybe because all the brake lines rotted here in the northeast? Or did everybody upgrade to ventilated seats with bluetooth and back up camera?

We had an 01 Tahoe last year, that arguably I should have kept. Only 120k mi on it when sold. But was hard to pass up the covid premiums people were paying for anything that would get them into the mountains last summer.

05 duramax, just turned over 100k miles. Bought new to pull a 5th wheel-which I never bought. Looks like a new one. I think it was in light snow one time several years ago. People ask me all the time if I want to sell it. Thought about it, but it's long ago paid for, and to replace it is big bucks(plus no def) So it sits in the driveway. I start it and drive it a few miles every couple weeks.

Another beauty!

Heck yes, 8.1L mated to Allison 2100, just 26K miles, tows without issue here in the mountain west and four corner states. Both the Allison and 8.1L are easy to service and maintain, works for us as I prefer to do the work myself.

Wow! Time capsule truck there! And still a very competitive option capability wise against gassers 20 years newer.

My 07 Classic 3500 dually is almost broke in now - only 413,554K on the odometer. Lots of life left in it!
I'd love to have something newer bigger better, but I don't have a spare 100G Cdn laying around.
It does the job well without all those fancy gadgets.

It was the heated steering wheel and the 6.6 gas that does 40% better than the 8.1 in fuel economy.

You mean GMT 800, not 900...but
Can’t swing a dead cat without hitting one around here. And many of them in good shape. That’s the difference between the rust belt and the rain belt!
Even a lot of 400s around here still, most of which are half scattered down the ditches in small rusty flakes and half in a boneyard back east.

Anyone who wants a straight rust free, generally good paint too, old truck, can buy basically any model that “needs” a trans, engine, whatever out here for pocket change.

If I lived back East, I’d have a couple from here and then just find the good mechanical parts from a rust belt truck that rotted out before it wore out!

I have one of those rusted out brake line examples sitting in my garage in MD. Been there 3 years now. As long as they salt the roads in the winter up North you will have RUST
