So I just got rid of my 02 990 A/F dry bath. Ordered a 2021 1150 dry bath. Called Arctic Fox to ask if the new camper will hold up to off road as well as the old A/F. We are talking 2wd roads small rocks, graded etc. His quote. I don't recommend you off road with any of our campers. Any input?
Thanks, Andy

It’s been my experience that the bigger/taller/heavier the camper is, the driver will say “I give up” off road sooner than the camper will.

I can imagine some of the complaints the mfr is worried about.
"You said it would be okay off-road! Your lousy product popped a seam on the Rubicon Trail, so you should pay for the repairs!" 😉

Can;t blame them for covering there butts. You say 2wd gravel. He's thinking "off-road" off-road. How many companies hear "But it was just a maintained gravel road" when they know there's no way Joe Dirt had the damage he's got from anything less then Jeep trails. First guys was reasonable in his reply given today's scale of honesty. And I'm not saying that's you. But they have to cover themselves for the lowest life form and the way they drive as well. Results are gonna vary on an average pot-holed fire road depending if you're doing 20km/h or 80km/h. 😉

Not for nothing but you should have realized this was the answer from the get-go.

First guy probably imagined rock crawling when you said off-road.

Technically, driving through the RV park to your campsite is off-road.

Putting 10-ply tires on half ton trucks since aught-four.

One must define off roading..There is off the pavement on gravel and dirt roads, then there is off roading which is off any maintained road which the majority ot truck campers here can't do anyway because there to heavy/to wide/to tall and to long..

I traded in my short Class C with great ground clearance, because every trip seemed to pop a seam, being built off the frame..I am not having that issue with my TC in the bed of the pickup and it only flexes with the pickup bed.

Something like the Mcgruder road, from Elk City Idaho to Darby Montana through the mountains on a primitive un-maintained road, might define off roading..It is a road but a terrible road..

I thought that is one reason we have truck campers. To go were you cant get a larger RV. My sales info for 2002 A/F says how better built they are for off road use compared to other brands.

I don’t think that is surprising. Probably almost no RVs are recommended to go offroad. That being said, there are plenty of paved roads that are pretty rough and some gravel roads are pretty rough as well..
