Blowing heat into basement?

So I have looked the installs of the Camco heater and got so tired of my noisy furnace in my AF990 so I bought one. Question is how to get some of that heat into the basement...

I was thinking to wire the factory basement fan which is located under the bathroom step to a switch separate from the furnace, this way I can turn it on before I go to bed when I am using the Camco heater. Seems like a lot of power draw though...

any ideas?

Like kerry, I installed an on/off switch to the fan.
But applying power to the fan made the furnace fan turn on.
So I put a diode inline with the power to the fan - that works, now I have manual control over the fan.

A guy on the club forum bought a used Arctic Fox and the basement fan comes on automatically when temperature drops below a certain point.
Apparently, the previous owner installed a thermostat in the basement with power to the fan - which is probably the best method by far.

I installed a single pole 3 way switch to the basement fan. One position the fan comes on with the factory furnace, one position the fan can be turned off not to run at all, and one position the fan runs on its own. I can run my fan while using my baseboard heat or my Cat 3 heater. No need to run the furnace.

I built a small fan-in-a-box and installed it (along with a speed control) into the toe-kick area below my cabinetry... then ran a 2" duct from there into the basement. Works great...

Eagle Cap put in a 12 volt switched fan for me. Uses very little power, is quiet and really helps keep my basement at reasonable temps when the outside temps are in the teens or lower.
