Looking to replace my Tekonsha Envoy Brake controller. Came from the dealer when purchasing the trailer. I see it not even available any more to compare what I don't like about it to what I looking for.

Any recommendations from experienced towers?

Thanks
Jaws!!

This wasn't the only reason I got one but one of the reasons. I have a trailer that has electric hydraulic brakes. My TT has electric. Can switch between them easily.

Then when I got a new 2010 F150 truck it came with it's OEM built-in brake controller. My Ford OEM Brake Controller is tied into the ford computer system which monitors alot of things. One thing it does that I don't like is if your forward speed is less than 10MPH or so the brake pedal action for the brake controlled is not active. In other other words when sitting at a stop sign on a decline your trailer brake action is not functioning unless you hold the manual slide switch on with your hand.

I didn't know this. But I can't imagine it being an issue ... ?

I really like that it adjusts the brake force depending upon your speed, applies the trailer brakes when it detects sway, and does something (not sure what) when the truck's ABS is activated. And it doesn't need an inertial controller, as it knows how much braking is going on directly from the truck's computer.

I had 2 time delay controlers in my last 2 trucks. When I bought my new truck, I picked up and installed a Prodigy P2. World of difference. Smoother stops. The Prodigy P2 or P3 is the way to go.

Love my Prodigy.

Had a Voyager years ago. Threw it in garbage after first trip. Jerky at stops, and never could adjust it right. Really bad on steep hills.

Same here. The thing I like most is the current function. My trailer will draw approximately 1 amp per applied volt. So when I check things before a trip at full manual override I am applying about 8 volts and read about 8 amps. But lets say I only read 6 amps. Then I know I have a problem and most likely one of the magnets is bad or an open wire to that magnet. I also use it to check my truck battery. After the truck has set overnight or a couple days I check the battery voltage. A good battery should read greater than 12.6 volts. If it is less time for a new battery before it gives out at a bad time.

I use a Tekonsha Voyager. Works great and is similar to the one you are looking to replace.

The hierarchy on the Tekonsha line is:

1) Prodigy P3
2) Prodigy P2
3) Primus IQ
4) Voyager

I used the Prodigy P2 brake controller which I liked very much and it worked very well for me.

Bang for your buck is the tekonsha prodigy or the p3 it has neater display. There are others that have sensors that tee into brake lines some people on here rave how great they are but I don't know the names of them.
