Camper step / bumper step

My camper has a set of scissor stairs that won't ever get used because I always pull a trailer when I camp (I have a boat or an atv with me nearly every time) because the extension is in the way.

I'd like to mount a step or two below my ladder (to the right of the current scissor step set-up). Ideally, I'd like to find a factory Lance folding camper step that other Lance's have, but those seem to be impossible to find.

Where can I find a step (or two) to mount below my ladder, so I can actually use my steps? Rather not use the scissor steps like I have because they're a pain flopping around the camper when not in use.

Ideas?

The links bellow just went live sometime this morning. The Revolution gives the rest of the RV'ers something that we have taken for granted with truck campers. However check out the LandingGear on the end - It will work with existing products and take care of uneven ground. I have no idea what dealers will charge, but it has the same warranty like their other products.

Exactly! We've used the offset step mount from day one with or without a trailer/toad. It works well as you don't open the door directly in your face and is clear of any hitch setup.

I use the step stool like Deb and Ed, only concern very slick with winter mix on it. Straddles trailer just fine or allows straight shot into camper without trailer. Most my travels have trailer with me.

Several years ago while using the scissor steps, they came off and I fell, injuring my leg rather badly. For awhile thereafter, I clamped steps to mount with vice grips for a temporary fix.

Then I had some diamond aluminum steps made (which were fine, unless you were hooked up to a trailer, since they went straight back).

Then, I got a ladder like Deb and Ed. For me, THAT is the ticket. I open 'em up to straddle the extended hitch and I've been very pleased with that set up.

I can cut the truck to the left with enough room to use the scissor steps next to the trailer tongue without detaching.

The Fox Landing on my AF990 does exactly what you want. Look it up. IIRC it is actually made by Torklift for Northwood. You can purchase the landing separately if desired.

The earlier mentioned Torklift announcement may indeed be related to something similar to the Fox Landing.

I'll have to look more closely at it Dakota. I may be able to do that. I think the mounting bracket is welded to the bumper though. That's a great idea though.

This is what I was talking about.

Although, what Deb & Ed posted would work too. Fold it up and bungee it to my ladder.

I received these steps for Christmas - they are incredibly stable! The handrail part folds down, so I can either use them going straight towards the door; or at a 90-degree angle to the door if my kayak trailer is hooked up

Xtend-and-climb

I should add that they come in several different heights. The 3-step version works perfectly for me.
