It was my wife's first time camping with me since we purchased our TT. We decided to take another family of three and one additional lady. Total of seven of us. Anyhow... We booked a two night trip on the beach. The first night on the way down the other couple stopped on the side of the road to pee. The guys wife got bit by something and had to go to e.r. they had all of our beer and food in their truck. Anyhow they didn't end up at the site until 11pm. (Five hours after us) we all went to bed around 1am. Their kid woke up at 5am. This meant all of us were now up.
Day two...
Things were going good until 8pm. Their kid developed wooping cough. He puked all over my towels and brand new tt. So the couple were out of action with him for the rest of the night.
The next morning I woke up and just packed up and left.
****ty thing is we were on the beach camping!!
It shouldn't get any better than that!!! Now my wife isn't too thrilled about camping now.

Ha Ha , as I said there are times that's fun with friends, and their are time's it's fun to have smaller numbers. I would say my 20 foot TT sleeps 4-6, Holds 2-4, and,,, as for food, eat what is on the campfire; bring your own food; or go to McDonalds, I don't care but, I'm not feeding you.

We typically went camping with extended family. DW & I would plan and undertake the meals/drinks and cooking (it ALWAYS involved wood & smoke, so I enjoyed the cooking).

.....but the only ones that could stay in our trailer were the grandkids. For several years, Son & DIL camped with us and we purchased the biggest/baddest wall tent we could for them to use, but, as others have said, even for family, our trailers held 10, fed 12, slept 2 + GK's.

We have a sign that we put outside our RV at each campsite that says it all.

THIS RV SERVES DRINKS FOR EIGHT
MEALS FOR FOUR
AND SLEEPS TWO

We have room for one grandchild at a time. I love them all, but!

We've camped with my bff and her family of 7 twice. That's camping with 7 kids between ages 12-4. It's fun! The big kids watch the little kids, I have a buddy to girl talk with, dh and her dh are really good friends, so we're all one big happy family. That being said though, they tent camp and we tt camp. We have 2 sites, she has her family stuff on their site, I have my family stuff on mine. They do their own b'fast and lunch, and we eat supper together. It's nice having an extra set of eyes on the kids too. We camp just my family of four, and just as a couple, but I think we have more fun with a group. I think it works b/c everybody has their own space and gear, so we aren't sharing space and stuff.

I would survive such a fiasco IF it were my own kids/grandkids barfin' up the tt, but that would be about it. I like the tent idea a lot! Might have to buy one and keep it on hand. I'll share my food with anyone, but we cherish our privacy once we cuddle in for the night. Most of our friends have TT's, RV's and one Tugboat converted to a floating camper. We don't have that problem ...THANK GOD!!!

As long as everyone has their own camper, gear, water, waste, and additional gear required a good time is going to be had.
I won't even have my brothers family share a site. Two large breed dogs, 2 kids, sister in law, and brother. No thanks. Rent a site, pitch a tent, and Ill start the fire.
My brother bought a only mid 90s coachmen catalina but never had the time or desire to take it camping.

I have a family of 4 with a 4 year old and 6 year old and we camp with other families all the time. We usually dry camp at remote locations near lakes and sometimes with lows in the 20's or 30's, the weather is too cold for little ones to sleep in a tent comfortably. I have no problem sharing sleeping space. The only time we're inside the trailer is to sleep, so it really doesn't matter to me. Sometimes after the fire, if the kids aren't passed out, I'll fire up the satellite and let them watch a little TV.

When we go camping, there isn't a debate about when we're eating or sight seeing. I eat when I'm hungry and anyone that knows me, knows that I'll be fishing all day long. Feel free to plan your own activities when you're tired of fishing with me.

Whether you like to camp alone or with friends or family, be safe, be prepared, and have fun.

Until the wife died, we camped with friends for a week at a time, two to eight couples or families, and it worked pretty well. I'm getting back into it, with some new friends sometimes, sometimes with the old group. It worked pretty well, but several factors made it work.

1. Every family had their own sleeping unit, whether RV, tent, cabin. What we did together was done in a shared outdoor space or clubroom at our destination.

2. Each outing, someone was leader, planning and organizing group activities. Others are free to participate or be on their own, as the mood fits. One group says leader is wagonmaster, another says camp host, but the idea is the same. Although there is a leader, most plans are by consensus, after discussion.

3. May be group meals prepared by the leader, but mostly pot luck for shared eating. Each family carries their own food and drinks.

4. Most of the time we travel separately to the destination, often from different places at different times. Sometimes some people will travel in pairs, particularly when someone has health issues, or is uncertain about how to get there, or just doesn't like to travel alone. Arrival/departure times might differ by a day or two, which is why #3, don't depend on someone else for critical supplies like food or beer.

Sounds like a goodlearning experience, now have the friends get their own tent to camp with you.

Maiden voyage for my new TT included the brother's family, wife and 3 kids, so 4 adults and 3 kids together for 6 days in a primative site. DW and I slept in the queen bed, 2 nieces and SIL slept in the dinette bed, brother and nephew slep in a tent outside. Oh, we had the dog with us as well, which turned out to be the only issue, he growled and snarled at my brother so badly when we go done camping my brother actually threated to kill my dog. Most scared talk as my brother is disabled and has no way of escaping a dog attack if it did happen, which (knowing my dog) had minimal chance of happening. We still have some bad feelings about how that happened, but we still love each other and talk weekly on the phone. Although no mention of future camping trips has come up from either side, hehee.

My favorite camping trip of every year is when 50 of my closest friends get together for a three night boondocking trip (one of them owns some land in the mountains near Taos, NM). Every family has their own camper or tent or they borrow a tent from someone. We spend almost all of our time outside. We rent a couple of porta-potties for those who do not have a bathroom in their camper. Each family (or maybe two families together) provides, prepares and cleans up after one meal for the whole group. The rest of the meals you just show up and eat. There is plenty of room for a volleyball game, horseshoes, or whatever. One family even brings a couple of horses mainly for the kids to ride. Did I mention this is my favorite trip of the year?

Well, our camping is quite balanced. We enjoy the company and the peace. On seperate occasions, we've had her parents, my SIL her husband and kid, my BIL and wife, the kids each had a friend go with us, we also have a couple that we vacation with many times a year go with us and their daughter. We've also gone with just our 4. I've even just gone with my son.(left the girls at home) Each trip has been fine. Sick kids happen. Sick adults happen too! There's no difference in the cleanup whether it is home, hotel, or the TT. Whenever we take someone with us though, we make sure they know what to bring. As far as the itinerary, well the women ussually do that planning anyway. My job is to get the TT to the campsite the night before everyone else, set it up and then tear down after the trip is over, then bring it home. When our vacation friends come along, he usually comes with me and the dogs. That works for us!!

Our TT is our private hotel room. One night per year we have my in laws stay in the front htt bunk. The rest of us sleep on the side tent and rear bunkbeds. ?We have had friends visit the campgrounds we were at, and had kids bounce around inside.

The only ones who share my camp are grandkids, we will see at what age I kick them out (right now the oldest is 5). As for people getting sick it happens on vacation or at home.
