Can I walk on my TT roof?

I have a 2014 Keystone Passport 238ml. I am unable to find an answer for this question and I am still waiting to hear back from Keystone. Does anyone out there know if I can walk on my roof. If so what would be the weight limit?

Do NOT make this decision based on whether a ladder is installed or not.. I had a Fleetwood that came from the factory with a ladder. It was NOT a walkable roof. Said so in the manual, and I was warned at the PDI about it.

Just another way to pad the profits. I used the ladder to hang things on.

I may call on Monday. I used the contact link on the Keystone website and I am waiting for an answer but a phone call may get a quicker response.

I called, and was instantly connected to the APEX division. No wait, no fuss.

There is no ,"one size fits all" answer. Some roofs can be walked on , some require sheet goods to be walked on.
Find out from the manufacturer, or take your chances.

I doubt it.
When I toured the Sabre plant, they had elevated walkways to access the roof during manufacture.
And I DO have a walk on roof... Most TTs do not.

I think you are both right. This was our Dutchmen / Denali tour a few years ago.

#1 - Call Keystone and ask their advise vs. a 'group of strangers' from the internet. Yes, a lot of years of advise, but the manufacturer would know best.

#2 - I don't have a ladder but I have gotten on my roof many times for maintenance and I am well over 220#

#3 - If/when on your roof, ensure you distribute your weight as much as possible, wear shoes that will not scuff/tear the roof material. When I get on mine I like to "crawl" more than walk and only stand up when I must. I clean my roof with a hose, bucket and scrub brushes on my hands and knees (I feel safer considering I am using soap and water which makes the roof slicker than normal).

Good luck and be safe...especially when getting DOWN from the roof.

I wouldn't go by anecdotal information from owners of other trailers similar to yours. If you want to get up there, use a piece of sheet goods to spread the weight over a greater expanse of the roof. If your roof is domed, I'd use pieces of foam insulation board with plywood over the foam board.

Not so, my roof is walkable (Cruiser RV-Enterra) as per the manual but I have no ladder because of the rear windows and dome roof configuration.

Yes you can walk on your roof. They are made to walk on. DH wears his deck shoes and if you are washing it, just be careful you don't slip. We have a 2006 Keystone Sprinter and have never had a problem with it. He cleans it twice a year and checks the seams and fans, etc. and whatever else is up there. It should explain this in the packet of instructions and guarantees they should have given you when you bought the trailer. Even after all this time we still refer to them when necessary.

How would someone service the air conditioner with out getting on the roof.

Crossroads told me on the phone the same thing as Terryallan: you can go up for maintenance but don't invite 12 friends up there to hang out.

I read this same thread and did not get a clear answer. I just thought it would be easier if I could walk on the roof when I checked all of the caulk and cleaned the AC. I have only had the TT for a few months but I will be giving everything a look before winter.

I doubt if Keystone will give you the go ahead, due to them owning the responsibility, if a problem arises from your walking on the roof.

I asked the tech, that was prepping my new FW, if it was okay to walk on the roof. He said yes, it holds my 220#s just fine. I mentioned that I'd just looked at the owners manual, and it said do not walk on roof. Then he said it is not recommended, but I know where to place my feet.

To be fair, my manual is covering many different models, not just mine.

I have noticed some brochures do say, full walk on roof.
