I did see an expert truck driver ACTUALLY back up at high speed (for reverse gear, anyway) around a tight figure-eight loop. It was a log-truck semi rig, and it was at one of those lumberjack rodeos in Washington state, where they have sawing contests, etc.

I saw my SIL back a boat and trailer on a dirt road on the west side of Wallowa Lake in eastern Oregon one day. it is a one lane dirt road and he backed it the whole length of the lake. I was impressed to say the least.
