I'm guessing the "repairs and expensive work" weren't powertrain related?
I too had GM products which cost me a pile of money for repairs as well. So I got rid of em as well.

every one ended up with major warranty repairs, and expensive work needed after the warranty expired. and I got rid of all of them before 75K miles.
