So what's up with the price of diesel fuel? In my area it goes up each day and today I saw $4.45 a gallon. I don't believe I have ever seen it much higher than this!!! It's practically one dollar more per gallon than regular unleaded.

Thanks for this article. It is worth reading!! I just hope prices fall below $4 after old man winter goes back into his "globial warming" mode.

$3.25 for gas isn't exactly cheap. It's why I turned in my man card and bought a Prius for my 50-100 mile a day work truck and DW drives the F250 for her short 6 mile commute. That 53~mpg average city is spoiling me big time!

I would imagine it's tied to the cold winter and fuel oil prices.

3.95 around me. Interesting article but it seems like prices spike in the summer when there is no demand for home heating oil.

$3.99 last summer, $3.79 since Oct.

But I buy mine in Va for $3.62.

I sold my 7.3L F250 back in 2008 due to diesel being around $4.75/gal.

I didn't "need" a diesel then or now, but I'd likely still have it if fuel prices weren't utterly ridiculous. I couldn't justify 15mpg at that price since the need wasn't there.

I think fuel prices keep a lot more people out of diesel than may be realized.

Prices around here are just over $4/gal. Gas currently about $3.90. Cost to make diesel is less than the cost of gas. Price really affected by taxes more than any other factor. CA & NY taxes highest in the nation.

seen on tv the congressman asked the oil man why fuel price was so high? oil man stands up and say cause we can set the price where ever we want, and sat down. oil rules the world not the gov.

Don't use diesel but on our recent tip to Fl it appears it runs about 60 cents higher than gas. Lowest I saw was in SC where reg gas was 3.04. Maybe they are getting ready for all the eco diesels, getting their money while they can :), but more likely the high heating season usage.

3.99 here in Palm Springs California. Hasn't really changed that much here for 7 years other than a little dip during the collapse of the economy at the end of the Bush era. Don't know how much longer it will stay cheap though. At some point it will go up.

In Alberta diesel is around $1.31. C$ per liter and it is slightly less than 4 liters per US gal. What is annoying here is that our province is awash in oil and we pay these high prices! Government taxes and corporate greed are responsible for that!
