My Dealer says there is an electric jack conversion for my manual screw type jacks. It is an electric motor that fits on top of the jack. Any experiences, comments, etc? Yes, I know they are expensive!!!

This was the first upgrade I did to my camper. I could not stand going from jack to jack to jack to jack to jack to jack........
Took me a couple of hours to install, as mine was prewired. I bought mine new and didn't care what the price was, just wasn't going to go from jack to jack to jack to jack....whew!

I was lucky to find a set of manual electric Atwood jacks that bolted right up to my camper that had RiecoTitan on it. So much easier to operate . Sold the manual hand crank ones to someone restoring a older truck camper. Worked out well for me ,I to have shoulder pain from many years of loading trucks as a stage hand .

I converted my happijacs a few years ago. It was a straight forward process. I lucked out and got a used set of motors under warranty. One of the best upgrades I have done.

Jacks and cranking ....We can feel your pain, going down the same road .

I think we should organize a 'group tc buddies' list. Someone with a bad left shoulder can be matched with someone with a good left should and a bad right shoulder, a good/bad hip, a good/bad knee etc . That way we can all camp as a group , like a complete person and get the job done. :B

DJ, we know you were having some back problems. Hope you are feeling better.

Yes, lets here more. Blew out my shoulder this spring and now the wife pushes in the tab while I use the drill with my one good shoulder. Or I carry the step ladder around to each jack so I don't have to lift my bad arm, a real PIA.

That's what I use. Get a good drill and it'll raise and lower it. But it still sucks walking from jack to jack.

Your dealer is probably referring to the Rieco Titan conversion kit for Rieco and Atwood manual jacks. If my camper had manual jacks I would be converting them. Years of abuse have left me with shoulder problems that make manual cranking, even with a cordless drill, painful.

Since joining this forum, I've known of 4-5 members that have used this kit, and have not heard a negative report from any of them. The most recent one was member vik1 in France. Although his jacks were Rieco mechanicals, the conversion kit is the same one used on the Atwoods. (BTW-Happijac also makes a conversion kit, but it's for their jacks only). Another member 7-8 years ago was Lance835, who also used this kit. I remember him because he sent me the parts he removed from his jacks so I could repair my old manual crank jacks on the Jayco TC I owned at the time (Atwood doesn't sell repair parts for their jacks).

My first two truck campers had manual jacks, but I consider remote controlled electric jacks that can be operated individually or all at the same time a very worthwhile feature these days.

I use a cordless drill now. Still a PITA to go from jack to jack. This new system is an electric motor mounted on each jack and the whole thing is operated REMOTELY!!!!! :B

Have to check for tabs. It's an electric drill. 1/2" variable speed. Tabs are a new one on me. It works great in one direction. Also saw another DIY where an atv winch was used. The cable was taken out of the winch and a gear was put on the core where the cable was wound. Another gear was placed on the stem end of the manual jack.

Electric drill... I must be doing something wrong. It works ok in one direction but unchucks the socket stem in the opposite direction. How did you overcome this?
