Electric Stabilizers

We have electric stabilizers on our trailer and only had it out once. That one time we were not on level ground and one side of the jacks hit the ground but the other side didn't. We tried putting something under it, but didn't have the perfect height for both jacks to hit the surface evenly. Hope I'm making sense. This electric stabilizer is new to me and I figure I'll run into a lot of these situations.

There has to be something I'm not doing right.

Agree. These electric jacks are not designed to level the trailer side-to-side or front-to-back. You do that with blocks under the wheels (side-to-side) and your front end jack (front-to-back).

They stabilize the trailer. Mine (Lippert) will individually extend the proper amount so there's equal pressure on each side. So far I've only used blocks on very soft ground and sand.

Self Leveling may be a bad term to use.

The electric jacks on mine will adjust the same amount of force to each side with only one motor controlling both sides. So when on uneven ground the high ground side will touch first and the low ground remains moving until it touches. Then equal pressure is applied to each side.

Have you tried keeping the motor running when the first side catches?

If I have to add some Lynx Levellers under the trailer tires to level it, then I also add the same number under one side of the stabilizers. This evens the downforce load and is easier on the single electric motor. I also put 6x6 Trex blocks at each stab, believing that they are more sturdy, the less they have to extend. My Lipperts came with the trailer and are convienent. However, in unlevel conditions, I'd rather have four independant stab jacks at the corners.

Mine are self levelng, but I do give it a boost by providing extra blocks to the obviously low side.

It depends on what design jacks you have. The newer ones like mine are generally self leveling.... They don't actually level the TT, but they adjust to the different lengths needed automatically... There are some models out there that may not do this..

:)Remember that they are stabilizer jacks and not leveling jacks. If they have only one motor that drives both sides, then it makes no difference both will come down and then you can put a small amount of pressure on them to keep the trailer from moving side to side. If your trailer is not level, then you will need to go back and level it using spacers under the wheels. Good luck and happy camping.

Same here. Try this - put the stabilizers down but stop before they hit the ground. Now stand in one side to force it down on the ground, then the other side. They should rock and self-level.

The jacks should both hit the ground 'without blocks. Get them fixed both sides should have equal pressure when down.

Mine rarely touch the ground at the same time. I carry an assortment of 1/4", 3/4" and 1 1/2" wood with me to even it out.

Are you carrying 4x6 blocks to put on the ground under the jack? I carry these and always place at least one under each jack. The last place we stayed, I had to use 3 blocks under one side and one on the other.
