Eleven years and counting

Just was wondering after all these years are you still camping in your SR. Mine is a 9'6" 2004 purchased from five star in Henderson, Colorado. Road trip from NC to pick it up October 2004. Our SR has served us very well with just a couple issues. The biggest issue has been keeping the happijacks from rusting, one new power cord, an up graded inverter charger. Bob Mehrer sure knew how to build a truck camper. I have yet to see a tc that I would trade for. Would like to here your Snow River stories. Here are a couple pictures of mine.

Nice set up. I miss my single wheel f350. Dually is fine in the sand but the airing up and down of those two extra tires is surely a pain.

Eric we rented a cabin for a home base, it was really nice since it rained all night and all day every day except the last day we were there. Our intention was to spend a couple of days at South point. Camping is allowed above high tide but not in the dunes where it is restricted. I can't help you with a camping spot as except at low tide you could not access the beach safely. I would think normally a camp site would be pretty easy to find. This year will be a different ball game as there is proposed to be an orv permit required to drive the island. Just like in hatteras.

Use to go to Cape hatteras, spring and fall drum fishing. Some trips to portsmouth island. Really like portsmouth a lot. This past fall went to Cape lookout. We timed it just right to coincide with joaquin. The island was inundated with water before joaquin got there. Here is a pic from cabin #19

This picture is headed to South point. We drove several miles through this. Hard bottom, water was deep in places, occasionally up to the running boards.

Our intention was to spend the night at South point and fish. Another picture from south point.

Park service came and issued evacuations from the island so we returned to the ferry dock for our float back to the main land. Our trip was cut short by 3 days.

Thanks for responding

Barry,

Where did you camp on the beach at? I have camped on cape lookout and freeman park several times. Just looking for a new beach spot.
Thanks Eric

Thanks for the complement on rack, it has served me well over the years. The PVC was an add on this year to help manage my sand spikes.
Take care, Barry

I just recently sold my 2002 Citation 10.8 S. It was a great camper. It was also made in Canada.
I took my camper up to BC, Canada to get the slide worked on while it was still under warranty. Since I was up there and Snowriver shop was only 45 minutes away, I went to visit Bob Mehrer. He gave me the tour of the shop and then took me out to lunch. They built 1 at a time.
The slide out mechanism was way better then Citation.

Yes, good to have made the right choice the first time. So many things that could have gone bad. With Snow River no longer in business, Host would be at the top of my list if the day ever comes that I need to retire the SR. Thanks for responding.
