F350 SRW Hitch Pin Weights

For those who have recent model F350 SRWs, I would like a good starting reference point. What kind of hitch pin weights are you dealing with?

We are looking at new toy haulers. Having a good idea of what is realistically being loaded out there would help me narrow down my search. At first, I was trying to stay around 2500 lbs. or less. But we have recently found a few models we really like that are in the 3000 lb. range on the pin.

Now with all due respect, we know how the arguments fly around here about this topic.
Yes, I will eventually go to a scale with my truck.
Yes, I will have the toy hauler pin weighed so I can get a realistic number.
Yes, I know what RAWR, GVWR, and GCWR means.
And finally, no, I don't want another dually. I've had both and to me, the only reason to have one is rear axle weights when hooked up.

So let's keep it on-topic if we can.

I just posted some weight ratings in the 250/350 thread, but here are the 350 weight ratings off my neighbors '15 350 door sticker (Lariat/CC/SB/4wd/diesel). I'd have to look the GCWR up in the manual. I was curious about the differences in the 250/350, so we compared weights.

F350:
FAWR - 5600
RAWR - 7000
GVWR - 11500

And here I am with my little 29' Cardinal NOT loaded for our upcoming snowbird trip. Nothing in the front closet. Almost bare load in trailer and half the stuff that goes in the bed boxes not loaded.

The over thing I have learned over the years is that dry camping can greatly chance pin weight. I have 60 gallons of fresh water in the very back of the trailer with one grey water and the black water tank ahead of the axles. The second grey water is between the axles and fresh water tank. Move that water forward after several days, several hundred pounds of weight is added to the pin. Chris

Twist it any way you want, however the important and limiting number for any SRW truck with a 5th wheel is the weight limit on the rear axle, which is most cases is based on the tires installed. So Pin weight alone does not answer the question, as there are other variables, such as your rear axle weight when the truck is ready to tow. Everything placed in the bed including the hitch has to be accounted for. So when one guy can handle 3300 pounds the next guy maybe will not be able to. That is what I was attempting to point out. But what the heck if it "pulls like it is not even back there" then go for it, no need to hit a scale!

Um, I gave actual weights from two different haulers taken from trips to the weigh station. Four in total considering I gave the weights both with the garage loaded and unloaded...

He did not provide any useful information. No actual weights!! That is similar to saying that a Toyota towed the space shuttle.

But I wouldn't dare count on that to make my numbers. The golf cart or the ATV won't always go with us.

Yep. Not a huge shift but simple physics dictate that when you load one side of the seesaw the other side get's lighter...

Axle placement determines how much.
