Finding Nemo, Going Coastal

Camper Jeff said I should be doing a trip report or something. I went with trip report, I apologize.

Nemo and Mrs. Nemo were coming back down from their Alaska trip the same time Lynn and I were going in that direction. A tidbit of information gleaned from a Facebook post led me to connect with them and wallah, a promise to "try" to meet up was made. Giving us both leeway to do our own thing and if we missed each other we'd try again another time.

These are a few pics of the trip and report, the whole beachalada can be seen if you click here...or here...or HERE!
Don't worry, rv.net will be here when you hit the "back" button.

Lynn and I took many backroads to get to Gold Bluffs Beach in Northern California, our starting point before driving north up the coast. I said back roads didn't I?

Paul Bunyan did a double-take at our GMC/Outfitter rig...

We became very handy at taking selfies.

Hello Yoly! No we did have to pay twice but it was certainly worth it. I forget the price but maybe $35 a night which was the most I remember paying anywhere. It was $35 at GoldBluffs Beach as well. Hey Yoly, I'm from Gainesville GA and my Father helped survey for Lake Lanier before it was there .I still kick him for not buying lake front property at pennies an acre or some such low prices way back then. Ah well, I still love it and miss it. We have 100 acre farm still in the family out east of Gainesville. See ya Yoly.

We're right down the road (Hwy 53) from Gainesville and you would have been a multi-millionaire had you invested in lake property, or for that matter any property up this way. We moved here in 1990 when there was nothing up here. There was a stop sign at GA400 and Hwy 53 and a single gas station. We were so fortunate that we got here before the "boom" and able to buy the first house we ever owned. After the Olympics in 96, this area expanded exponentially. We used to have to drive down to Cumming to get groceries and Alpharetta for building supplies. Now our little intersection is surrounded by everything under the sun. I have an old VHS tape I made in 1992 driving down GA400 on our way to the office in Duluth at that time. You see less than 10 cars traveling in both directions all the way to Cumming. Today, it's bumper to bumper crawling traffic. I've got tons of drone videos on our channel flying over the lake ... it's still really beautiful. Of course we owned boats for about 20 years but decided to swap out for RVs several years ago ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks a lot Prof, you're a great guy and I've appreciated your responses. I'll hope to see you out and about some time.

Alright Cal, you've gone too far this time and now I'll disagree. Anyway, so Cal, next year you need to drive north sometime, we'll go have more fun since I have a few new places!

That you're a real fun guy, Dave -- as we all know. As well as one of the greatest back/no road explorers ever.

Whaz, thank you so much for posting that link to your full report -- great photos, great video, charming grand-daughters. It took me a half hour to read the whole thing -- time very well spent! Keep on traveling!

Thanks Gripnriprod, Have a great weekend.

Haha Cal, I didn't spew like Ben but I did choke a little, while agreeing at the same time lol. And yes on your summary, you make it sound so short and unpleasant. The fact that I had fun says what about me?

Ben, I'll make you a spew emoji!

Hi Bryan! Slow done Ben? Not happening, he and Tory have energy I can only dream of. He never even took a nap!

Thanks Jeorg and Janina, I sure hope you're both enjoying your newer camper and getting out some. Best wishes!

It's true Tiger, more water than a desert rat can fathom. Yes, indeed. We've been spoiled now and need water to camp next to. See ya Tiger...

Thanks anutami, and I do remember a TR where you guys had gone there as well. Sure is a fabulous place to camp, more so with kids!

Howdy Mark, I keep buying software to make my pictures look like yours. Seems there's more to it than that Hah. Agreed about kiddie pics, those two are beautiful in every way. See ya Mark, maybe this winter!

Thank you Grant, we're having some cool rainy nights as well. But those cool rainy nights camping with friends was a lot of fun, more so than I would have thought. Take care Grant, keep those doggies running.

Hello Silver, Hey that area was pretty spectacular to us also. It had everything, like Cal said haha. That was no picture on my shirt though, them er back roads.

GoinThisAway, Hi Phyllis, Was it short? I felt it was too long, the TR I mean. I see short as a good thing and I'm glad you like the sparkles, I did too!

Ah Camper Jeff, "visual cheesecake"! You're the best Jeff, I've been out-metapfored. See ya ol Buddy...
