Getting truck to pull toy hauler

I recently purchased a 35' Wolf pack toy hauler and am now looking for a truck to pull it. I'm looking at a 2000 Chevrolet 2500 Silverado. I believe this will pull my trailer but am wondering if there's things I don't know... Do I need certain brakes? Any info would be helpful.
I've only had class c in the past so this is all new to me.
Thanks in advance!

Based on what the driver reported I don't thin the trucks setup is the problem.

Guess I missed that. What did he report?

Driver comments:

"Update to incident: I was traveling 40 mph and the light went to yellow switched in less than 2 seconds. I did run the light, it was my fault 100% however after talking to CHP he says these lights are not timed correctly. I could not stop in time, I laid on my horn for what seemed forever (no eye contact from driver) He rear ended the back of my bed. Very scary my son (8) and daughter (5) and wife are all okay. I’m a good driver however today was not my day. It could of been a lot worse. Thank you for all the kind words. See you all soon!"?

Since this went so far in the weeds.... 12V98, what on earth does a lifted, bagged new F250 have to do with the OPs questions in the least ?
That’s the polar opposite of what he appears to be looking for in a truck.

If everyone looking to buy a Toyhauler and new truck would watch this vid they may actually realize all these mods did not help and maybe just maybe they will get the appropriate truck for the job right out of the box!

WATCH THE VID!!!

OP seems to have disappeared on his thread. All the comments don’t seem to matter much ch unless the OP shows back up and responds to the advise given so far.

Anyone looking to haul a big ToyHauler may want to watch this YouTube vid FIRST then decide if a new F250 , lifted with bags and aftermarket tires is a good combo!!! This happened in Indio, CA. This setup is very common with the people coming and going to the desert from the West side. See em laying on their sides quite often around here. No idea what caused the accident, anyone know?

Plus the traffic passing the wreck had a ton of tow haulers and other rv's. My thoughts were how sad the other drivers felt for this couple as they passed by. As I just emailed Cummins 12 volt98 we have a 43 ft fifth with a SB 2500 chev next to us as of this morning. I said to him wow that is long and he said this. STUPID for him not me.

There is a lot going on in this thread... 2300 lbs tongue weight on a bumper pull... 1 ton trucks being physically larger than 3/4 ton trucks... one guy getting 31+ mpg on a HD diesel truck...

All we need is some brand bashing and someone to suggest a half ton truck and we've hit all the RV.net marks!!!

I'm in Tucson. Born in kansas city, I'm still wondering if I need a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. I don't want a 1 ton if I don't need it

Why not a 1 ton? They are not any bigger than a 3/4 ton truck, but you gain more payload.
