Had to get a new TV

DW and I had been looking at a new TV (as the Expedition we were towing with was about 10 years old). We decided to wait until we knew what type of help (if any) our son would need starting a new job.

A week later my wife did this:

Insurance totaled it (which is what I was expecting since the whole left front wheel is gone).

So, it was mandated that we would have to get something else. Our local Ford dealer finally found an F150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine and the max tow package (that was the difficult thing to find) along with the other few requirements we had. So, now she is driving this:

The first tow hasn't happened yet, but she is enjoying driving it.

Nope. They were young kids (I think the oldest was 20). The only thing they had to do was shake the broken glass out of their shirt. They didn't even go to the hospital. My wife was feeling worse, but I think most of that was her back.

Any chance you can post what trucks ratings are? Axle ratio?

I can only go from memory right now, so I will have to update you after the weekend, but I think the tow rating was 10,600. The axle ratio was 3.55 (electronic locking if that matters since it is 4x4), and I think the payload was only 1650. I will have to look up everything else, as I can't remember. I know it was beyond what I had with the Expy, and I was right at my limits on the expy.

Easy... put a fat chick in the back right corner!!!

Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the Expy didn't have enough overhang beyond the rear axle to make that enough of a counter balance. Either that or I haven't found a chick fat enough.

A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

No, I'm not driving the Expedition. I couldn't figure out how to balance the load to keep the left front up high enough.

Glad your wife is okay, sounds like a heckuva ride. Cars can be replaced. Nice looking new truck too! Enjoy it.

She was going too fast, topped a hill heading southbound and didn't see the car stopped at a light that had just changed. She swerved to the right to try to avoid the car. Her left front hit the car. Her wheel kept going, while the Expy veered to the left (after the wheel was off). She said she kept hitting the brakes but was not slowing down, as I imagine she was watering the grass with brake fluid. She came back across the 2 southbound lanes, into the left turn lane for the northbound side before finally getting back into the median. I'm just glad she did not hit someone head on. Left a good skid mark through the median, and a tie rod in the rear door of the other car. How that happened I can't even guess.

She had a few bumps, and since she has back problems (2 prior back surgeries) she got checked out. Fortunately it was only sore muscles and ligaments. Nothing broken or torn, and no cuts or scratches. Medical personnel were surprised she wasn't hurt more. I'm grateful.
