Hi Team,

IMHO, this is an impressive devise. Plug and play electronic sway control.

Hayes Electronic Plug and Play Sway Control

Would not use it as my primary sway control, however might be cheap insurance.

Chatted with company about the brochure saying it was for use without wd. They say no worries using it with WD as long as you can find a place to mount it properly on the A-frame.

Just passing this on for info...never used the device so cannot comment on it....

They are removing from all Jayco units.

There is a full review in this months Trailer Life......

Some of the comments by the "experts" just crack me up! Disc brakes are better for sway control than electronics? Manual control is all you need? Just set trailer up properly and you'll "never" have sway!

I guess we should disconnect ABS, fuel injection, dual diagonal braking, traction control and all other electronic devices as they are simply not needed.

This is a great additional safety feature that for $212 could save your life.....but more importantly, could save MY life if the trailer fish tails in front of me!

It uses the same principle as independent braking on aircraft.

Concur on shocks and discuss brakes being great. But at $200 cost to Trailer manufacturers, seems to make lots of sense to install in a new build trailer.. Seems to me this is lots of safety for the $s..

To my mind if you want your trailer to handle better your money is much better spent putting on Shocks and disc brakes. That will do more than any "Sway Control" you could buy.

IMHO, the beauty of these systems is not in a classic excessive sway situation (although they do great there) but an evasive maneuver. During an evasive maneuver, the system would keep the trailer tracking behind you. Allowing you the most control to avoid whatever you are evading...

I applaud Jayco for putting them on all trailers. Makes the road safer for all of us.

I also am very positive. For a cost of $200 (and I am sure much, much less for Trailer manufacturers), This is a very inexpensive addition for the good it does....

As with any new device or technology some will not pan out and there will always be a chorus of those who swear it can't work but given a little time it will likely become the gold standard for sway control. I will watch with some interest to see how this one does.

The device in question can select right or left trailer brakes as needed, your truck cannot.

I don't believe that is the case with this device. As it is plugged into the 7 pin connector it only has access to the brake wire which activates all trailer brakes.

Now the dexter electronic anti sway control (that is hardwired into the right and left brake wire), operates as you describe with activating left or right trailer brakes as required.

I'm sorry, you are correct. I first thought that it was just another copy of the Tuson system.

It applies the trailer brakes when sway is detected which is the same thing the manual slide on the controller is used for.

If it malfunctions even a tiny amount the trailer brakes will be off and on constantly increasing fuel consumption and wearing out the trailer brakes.

No thanks, it is a solution looking for a problem.

I agree 100%. As I have repeated here many times, "Sway" is driver induced and if you load, maintain and DRIVE your trailer correctly you will never be bothered by "Sway"

Another useless product.
