Ok, that was really interesting and well done. Thanks for the post!
Wish I could have gotten a photo, but last week on my way to work I came upon an rollover in the middle of the freeway that closed 2 lanes. It was a Kia Soul towing a single axle travel trailer, an older one at that, probably 17'. From what I could see no one was hurt, the tongue was off the ball, the chains were still attached, and NO WD hitch. Keeping in mind that a Kia Soul can barely carry 2 people let alone towing something bigger than a small utility trailer.Lynnmor wrote:
Excellent video, thanks.
With many TT's being built with light tongue weight, for use with marginal tow vehicles, the problem is real.
While I don't advocate towing right to one's TC, if it's properly setup there is no safety issue. The issue then becomes how much life you are shaving off of the tow vehicle.

This video is a great example of the design flaw that all TT's have to sway! Load your TT correctly, add a real sway control hitch like the Hensley, and be carefull. These sway related TT accidents occur every day here in the US. One of the main reasons we upgraded to a fifth wheel (and ultimately to a MH) which doesnt have the issue. Be safe out there!
