How long did it take you to decide on a TT

Just Blatant curiosity!! Did you ponder or take the plunge?

We looked and studied for a couple of years before we finally bought our RV.

We spent a lot of time looking at the advantages and disadvantages of pop-ups, Aliners and TTs. We even rented a TT.

Finally we opted for convenience, mostly because we settled on how we wanted to travel.

The only advantage to looking so long was, we were really familiar with the new and used market prices and we had saved up some money.

We decided to try it out first. We bought a junker and tried it out for one season. We are not full timers. I use to be a serious long distance motor cycle rider and really doubted that I could sit in a stationary chair and stare at the trees for hours. I can't but I'm getting better at it. I bought a little rubber dingy, stuck a motor on it and then found some friends to go camping with. That was enough for us to make a bigger investment (expense, more like it). My wife absolutely loves it and she deserves it after years of using half our vacation without her.

After the research about an hour to get the order sheet right. The research took a long time.

I've been on this site since 2006, finally purchased Dec 2012, and had our first season 2013. Probably I was researching and looking into things for several years prior to finding this site. With all my research I have learned a lot, but the first year was a huge learning as well. I love everyone's sense of humor here, and their self-deprecating sense of themselves, and their sharing of their errors (or rather learnings along the way). I now smile when I see an RV, smile when I'm walking in a campground, for me it is soooo relaxing!!

It took us about 2 years. We had a Coleman popup that we really liked and camped in it for 5 years. We were looking and investigating as I really wanted a hard TT. My neighbor purchased a new 2010 Komfort Trailblazer in 2011. I loved the layout of it. In 2012 my neighbor passed away and his wife was selling it. We looked at it but she was selling it a little more than what I wanted to pay. I was disappointed, however I did more research and found online, a trailer that had everything I was looking for. My heart actually was going pitter patter. I told my husband about it and 2 days later we put a down payment on it. It came home a week later. I go to RV shows all the time but nothing comes close to mine.

About 2 years to pick our first TT, and coming up on 4 years to pick its replacement. 🙂 Probably Spring 2015.

We researched for about a year- then bought in about 30 minutes at a camping show. And no, we didn't buy exactly what we had researched... Go figure.

We watched RV Crazy and saw our first teardrop trailers. My expectation is that fuel prices will only go up (they have) and wanted something we could pull with our Subaru. Coming from a QC back ground I first studied what fails wood and rust and ours is an all aluminum frame and Filon skin.
The process from that looks neat to buying was about 2 years.

About two hours.

We knew pretty much what we wanted and what things would be a deal breaker. As we travel with my wife's adult disabled sister, we had to have two separate adult sleeping area among other things.

We showed the salesman our list of "must haves" and he showed us four units "that fit the bill."

We went up the road to another dealer, nothing there.

Returned to the first dealer and bought the one that I just felt "was the one." No regrets.
Our Rig:
2005 Dodge 3500 - Dually- Cummins
2006 Outback 27 RSDS

We also have with us two rescue dogs. A Chihuahua mix & a Catahoula mix.

Looked casually and talked about it for maybe 6 months...good deal popped up on a hunting forum on one that we thought would suit us well and we took the plunge. Picked it up a couple days later and haven't looked back. So far so good...my 8yo insists that we need a 5th wheel toy hauler now. :B

Well i have been saving money and looking at TT's for a summer atleast lol. but then my brother tells me his friends brother has one for sale and i was like sweet let me go take a look at it.Went there with money in hand and it looked good shape except for a few things need fixin. So after inspecting it he originally wanted 2k but then went down to 1500 with the soft spot on the floor fixed but when i got there and i guess he saw the excitment in my eyes and after talking and knew i was gonna fix it up and use it. at the end i paid 1300.And he even delivered it to my house and parked it in the spot for me since my truck needed to get the od switch fixed.

so for $1300 i got a 1999 Fleetwood Mallard 27' TT. All in all i think i got a great deal and it came with a bunch of tools etc for the trailer like a portable air compressor to blow the lines to winterize etc. Thats my story lol
