How to find proper tire pressure for tow vehicle?

Does anyone know if there is a calculator or spreadsheet to figure out what tire pressure should be?

I know this is supposed to be listed on the door sticker, but I bought my truck used and the model shown on the sticker does not match the model on the tire! My online searches have been fruitless as it just lists the maximum pressure (80psi) and doesn't give any consideration to load.

For reference the 2010 Chevy 2500 LT CC 4WD Shortbed has BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO LT285/70R17 121/1118R tires.

Sticker has LT265/70R17E with front @50psi and rear @72psi. I assume this is fully loaded. Does anyone reduce tire pressure when unloaded?

Tire pressure chart shown will get you there.
With 285s if it's a gasser I'd be at 45-50 F and 35-45R driving empty.
Diesel I'd maybe bump up the front another 5 lbs.

Load er up and raise the rear pressure accordingly. Maybe the front of you want it to ride stiffer or have transferred or added more weight to the front axle.

Link for several Tire Inflation Tables.

Also, if you search for: Load and Inflation Tables
you will find lots of links.

The Toyo Load and Inflation Tables has lots of different sizes.

My understanding is these tables are tire industry standard for each size, the same for all brands.

I found 55 psi in LT265/70-17 E tires on my 2500 Dodge/Cummins works best when towing or not towing with my GN trailers and a 11200 lb 5th wheel trailer
And 70 psi in the rears for a 5200-5400 lb axle load.

When empty I drop the rears to 45 psi as each tire is only carrying around 1400-1500 lbs.

Pretty much the same as JIMLIN for my 3500 CTD (same tire sizes).
I simply use 50 for all four when not towing, or with no load, and increase the rears to 70 or max as indicated on the sidewall (80) when towing or hauling a load.

When replacement tires differ in size when compared to the tire placard, the procedure is to inflate the replacements to an inflation pressure that will provide - at the minimum - the load capacity the OE tires provided.

What are the weights on Front and Rear Axles?

I use 265/70/17 'E' tires
I run 55psi Fronts (all the time) ~4200#
I run 45pi on Rears when NOT towing ~3900#
I run 80psi on Rears when Towing (Max Load) ~6200#

Even thread wear across width of tire, no cupping, get 60K PLUS mileage and I don't rotate tires

Personally I think 70psi rear is too much air pressure .....will be over-inflated when not towing/hauling and center threads will wear quicker.
60 psi Fronts even with diesel engine weight is probably a bit higher then needed.

Is it time for your medication or mine?

No but it's simple to find. Type in your tire size along with weight inflation guide.
