I just got back from a 7 day vacation in Myrtle Beach SC , I left Maryland and did the I 95 route . Now this trip we didnt take the trailer , ( not my choice ) Now I am running with traffic , adverage 70 to 75 mph . I was running the slow lane , I was constantly being passed like I was standing still. So just for something to do I kept count , I was passed by 47 travel trailers , and they were pulling away from me while I was running 75 mph . Both trailers and fifth wheels . These guys were moving , best part was this was in the rain , wet roads and spray . I guess 75 ++ is the new 65

Alabama.........just about the entire state. I try to use the left lane as much as possible, but will move over when necessary. I'm not sure why those roads are so bad. One summer I spun out, while unloaded, going around a ramp doing 20 MPH and ended up in a ditch. Confused, I climbed back up to the road to have a look at why. The road surface was so bad that I slipped and fell as soon as my feet touched it. The only thing that was there was a small amount of morning dew. It felt like walking on 2" thick ice. Luckily I was able to drive the truck out of the ditch with no damage.

I can't drive 55. Speeding tickets are just another fee you have to pay if you want to drive. Like renewing your license.

Unbelievable.......

Last time I did 70 with the trailer was last summer while passing a kidney stone. Had to get somewhere fast for help. Otherwise it's about 60 unless I'm really feeling in the way. I have noticed while driving to Florida on 95 and other interstates that the going rate for many is 80 now. I've also noticed that BMWs, Mercedes and Audis do not come equipped with directionals, apparently. They also have trouble staying in a lane.

I drive the left lane a whole lot , especially on asphalt highways , the dips from the heavy trucks make a rougher ride .

I tow in the left lane a lot.. I have heard that the right lane is often rough. I wouldn't know as I am one of the passing vehicles.

Well, in my opinion 55 is just to danged slow on the interstate. If you can't go at least 62-65 you should stay on the back roads. That's what I do when pulling my trailer. I like them better anyway. If I'm just in my car or pickup and need to get somewhere then I jump on the interstate and drive 70-75. Maybe even 80 but, that's rare.

Whatever you decide to do never, never , get your self in a situation where you are the slow vehicle and setting in the lane right next to another slow vehicle going the same speed as you. Better to slow down and let that guy get passed you so that way everyone else has a way around both of you. I hate it when 2 slow vehicles use up both lanes of the interstate and block the flow of traffic for everyone else. I've been tempted to call the police and report the license plate number of the guy driving slow in the left lane and say I think he is swerving too much and may have a medical issue or something. Still, there is no reason the person in the right lane can't slow down and let the person in the left lane pass. That's just about as bad as being the slow person in the left lane. If I see traffic building up behind me I either slow down or speed up to open up a lane so people can get around.

I could not have stated this any better. I really appreciate people that know how to use their rear view (or side view) mirrors and make the necessary adjustments to not impede or snarl traffic. Equally frustrated with that jerk in the left lane that thinks it is a normal driving lane............

In PA it is illegal to speed up when being overtaken by a passing vehicle- likely to help avoid situations like you mention.

I looked down at my speedometer on I-75 and realized I was going 83 mph and just keeping up with traffic. Most of those going faster could not handle an emergency situation at 40 mph, let alone twice that fast. I backed down to a speed which left me room to avoid the fools, about 72 mph. I was not towing at the time.

I live in the middle of no where. It would take to long to get anywhere at 55. I have a friend that drives like that. Whenever I say lets meet up somewhere he wines that it takes to long to get there so he just stays home. He hardly ever leaves the house.

I guess I do drive 55 on gravel roads though.
