With TTs under 20 feet becoming more and more popular with the V-6 SUV crowd, I'm surprised a lot more posts don't appear here. Is it because folks don't know about this forum? I'm guessing that's probably it. I would like to see more pics especially. It has been my experience that people with smaller campers possess streaks of ingenious ideas and cool innovations. So let's see some of it!:B

So-called "tow capacity" is a farce, the primary limitation with 1/2 ton and less is payload capacity, or more correctly lack thereof. Add to that less grunt under a V6 hood and the picture isn't pretty. :S :S

Over the years talking to many folks who tow various trailers, one thing I have concluded is that sometimes, a persons comfort level of using an "appropriate sized" tow vehicle has to do with their personal level of experience.

Drivers with a lot of experience and skill might find a given tow vehicle a good match. A less skilled driver, or one with less towing experience might feel that same tow vehicle is "inadequate". The result is a lot of these well intentioned but less experienced/less skilled drivers simply default to recommending "a bigger tow vehicle".

To get back on topic, one of the many beauties of these smaller trailer is they can in fact be a good match for a smaller tow vehicle, providing one does a good setup with a quality WD hitch, and of course, has the requisite driving experience and skills.

Also back on topic, I have notice where I snowbird in the winter, I'm seeing more and more smaller travel trailers staying in the resorts. Some of the folks I've talked to have in fact downsized from Class A's or large fifth wheels.

Ditto.

It wasn't that long ago that rv.NET finally allowed posting a photo bigger than 640x480. But to rezize bigger photos, RV.net had the dimensions backwards int he resize option, you had to select the HEIGHT of 480 followed by the width (640). TOTALLY BASS-ACKWARDS

I stopped posting much when Photobucket started forcing people to pay to allow forum posting of photos.

Posting a pic here is very easy, and properly sizing it only requires one to type "600" in a box.

My wife and I bought a 192RD Coleman and I had a Silverado 1500 work truck with a V6. We were told that it would pull the camper with no problem. We live in FL but were planning to make trips north into the mountains. We found the truck inadequate, it would scream if we went over 55 here in FL so we felt it would not make it in the mountains.
We now have a 2017 F250. No problem.

I towed a 6000 lb. TT with a 200 hp. F-150. Fun no, slow yes, hard to keep the four speed in the right gear. But, It did the job until we got a bigger truck.

You use what you have.
Twenty six foot 2010 Dutchmen Lite pulled with a 2011 EcoBoost F-150 4x4.

Just right for Grandpa, Grandma and the dog.

This is my first trailer, a 2012 Springdale 179, and I'm looking forward to starting my camping season in June (if we ever get rid of winter!) I think it'd be ok behind a V6 powered something or other, but I towed it for a number of years with my 2008 Ram 2500 CTD. I'm looking forward to seeing how it feels behind my new 2017 Ram 3500 CTD. It does have a GVWR of 6000, so it's not super light.

Even though I have towed in Wyoming & Colorado where did I comment at all about towing "over the various passes of Colorado with a normally aspirated V6 vehicle"? :h What you choose to do and where you choose to do it is your problem, I merely said a V6 vehicle towing a travel trailer even of the size I have just doesn't work for me, regardless of where that may be - my preference, my choice. Talk about "stirring the pot". :S

Why aren't there more postings from people with lightweight travel trailers?

Probably because they are using them to to travel and camp rather than sit in them and surf the Internet like me and many of my older friends.
