Yes, but weight is not the issue in this example. My cheap Cobalt costs more to insure than my 2013 Grand Caravan, and the insurance company said it is because most Cobalt drivers are very young and take a lot of chances on the road.

Seems odd. If there are no young drivers in your household, why should you be penalized?

In our case, it's just me and wife who drive them, and it was the Insurance agent who told me that the truck was considered safer than the Cruze. But sometimes I do wonder if he really knows what's what.

Cobalt...seems like that model has been in the news a lot lately. Isn't that the one where windows routinely fall out of the car, and a few doors have fallen off. Gee I can't see why the would get stuck with higher insurance...heh.

I don't know about the Cobalt but I owned a Beretta years ago the the door fell off when I opened it. I cannot remember if is was faulty pins that were too soft and wore down or just the pins rusted. That was the same car that the freeze plugs rusted out and overheated when the coolant leaked out.

I think someone posted a link to that or a similar video on the other thread. So what? Old technology loses to newer technology. No surprise in this case when the newer tech is actually better. That isn't always the case.

I've noticed over the decades that the worst drivers often drive the biggest vehicles and preach vehicle safety the loudest. It puts the odds of their own lousy driving in their favor. I bought a Prius for my 50-100+mile a day work route while DW drives my F250 for her short commute. I simply avoid old coots with homemade contraptions on the back of their pickups. :B

My wife, I, and the family are the selfish bastard and admit it and simply love having the odds so solidly in our favor on anything and everything and won't change it an iota! Might note that some people must only go to Casinos or gamble to lose and don't give a damn how remote the odds of winning are! They have free "hot lines" for them to call for help. Haven't heard of a "hot line" for the pint sized vehicle owners and drivers yet but should be lots of them in the works.

People buying the tiny death trap coffin cars must have flunked Physics or had never taken the class at all!

Maybe these same uninformed really do think it's a 180 lb tackling lineman smacking the living heck out of the 300+ lb borderquack in football. Just might be that they really need glasses. What's even worse is that these same half blind uninformed get driver licenses and are on our roads and then want a pitty party for family members or others they'd just attended the funeral for.

What ever happened to getting a real education or was good successful partying the main requirement for a diploma???
