Those old trailers could become a maintenance nightmare. I hope you're handy. Leaks are commonplace. Also the wiring needs to be checked against rodent intrusion. Just about every component needs to be checked. Especially the running gear, axles, suspension, tires, bearings and brakes for wear, or damage, etc.

I think that it's very cool.

Go for it. The most you can lose is $1300. I suspect that you could get that much fun and memories out of it in no time!

Hard to tell about condition from pictures. If it's a nice as it looks then around here the price would be in the right range. As someone said they run about 900-1500. Hand them a 1000 in cash and see of they take it. Make sure you get a clean title card.

frig or ice box?? Makes a big difference if out for more than couple of days IMO.
Love those hand pumps in sink, wish I still had one.
Inside lights, any propane lanterns, they are really cool but also install more than one alarm.

Thanks everyone! I can definitely paint both the exterior & interior. I can sew & at one point I actually laid tile for a living so I can do that too ๐Ÿ™‚ If you knew me you would find that to be hysterical but it's true. I can stain wood, I can do all sorts of smaller jobs. My husband does AC/heating & plumbing so if I need anything like that I can BEG him to help me lol! I dunno. I think I might just buy it! ๐Ÿ™‚

If your after a vintage trailer then try to beat him down some and go for it. If your just looking for a great deal watch craigslist for awhile. Friend of mine just got an '06 tt around 25 feet long in great shape for $3000.00 they wanted more but took the 3.

If you can hold off, save another grand and start looking for that tt that must go ASAP.

I am guessing it has surge brakesโ€ฆ I donโ€™t see a 12v battery or a place for oneโ€ฆ

There is no mention of 12v eitherโ€ฆ it has a 110v water heater and a sink with a pump or pressurized waterโ€ฆ I assume that to be a hand pump and the pressurized water come from using a compressor to pressurize the holding tankโ€ฆ I am a little surprised it doesnโ€™t have a propane lamp in it somewhereโ€ฆ
The hot water tank was added and maybe the shower was an aftermarket added later toโ€ฆ

All in all if itโ€™s in good condition itโ€™s worth the price with those limitations for use as a camperโ€ฆ

A 73 really needs the frame checked out real closely, especially if itโ€™s boxed tubing that holds water and rust from the insideโ€ฆ

Actually I donโ€™t see a furnace flew eitherโ€ฆ

Why would it have a black tank if it didn't have a toilet??? LOL

Also check on the fridge, it is original or even working? Looks like it's in great shape, if the brakes work and the tires are in decent shape and it tows, would be worth one large.

Think about how you are going to use it. If you are a prepper you may want to consider something larger with fresh water storage and a toilet with holding tank. Porta potties only go a day or two depending on size and usage.

Ya' have to start somewhere.....I'd offer him a grand with a no whining clause in case it has a leak or something needs repair. 10 Benjamins in hand and a done deal.
If your efforts decorating this one turn out right, maybe one of your friends will like it and that might give you some slack for upgrading in the future.

BTW, that looks to be in really good shape for that age, probably a top 5%. The steps are still there and even painted!!!

Oh I don't go hunting or fishing. I'm a vegetarian lol! But yeah now that the bathroom thing got brought up . . . maybe I need to keep looking. I just really wanted an older trailer to dress up & paint. I can get a new one & qualify for a loan, I just wanted something vintage w/o monthly payments ๐Ÿ™‚

Space for a porta potty. So it doesn't have a bathroom? How about a black tank? If not it might not be the greatest for the MIL. But if the expensive stuff works and it has no water damage I think it's a bargain for hunting and fishing trips and similar.

It is cleaner than most I have seen at this age, $900 sounds like a better deal.

You mention you only want to use it as a emergency backup, why not spend a few more dollars and get something newer, larger, with a full toilet, etc and than go camping as well..
