As far as Fred Diaz goes, he was in charge of the Ram division and had two poor launches, if you recall. Given that he had been in talks with Nissan when there was talk us us building their pickup's and them build small cars for us. I'm sure he likely had made some friends over there, he's a very likable man. Then given the fact that it was decided that the 1500 would use the VM and not the Cummins engine I'm sure he was not happy.
I find it funny that Nissan made him VP of Marketing not their truck division.
My bet is he was simply burned out and could not keep up with the 24/7 lifestyle that Sergio is used to, most COE's couldn't. Note this is not a slam on Diaz.

Give ram and Fiat/Chrysler their dues. Our quality is up, our trucks rock, we invested over 1 billion in Sterling Heights Assembly for the new 200. Yep they have invested in the Mexico plants also but that is what it is, GM and Ford of plants their also.
The guys that said Fiat would be the end of Chrysler must not like the taste of crow maybe? When the gloom and doom crowd at the plant start their******I remind them that with out Fiat their would not be a Chrysler right now! If Fiat was only in it for Jeep and Ram they sure as heck would not have invested in the other lines.

I personally don't get all the gas pain over Fiat owning Chrysler to begin with. Lee Iacoca explored the possibility of a merger or acquisition of Chrysler by Honda when Chrysler was facing insolvency in the late 70's. Why did he do this? Because the Feds told him to explore that possibility as an alternative to seeking the Federal loan guarantees that Chrysler ultimately received.
Hopefully, Chrysler will continue on the successful path they are on. More than a few workers in this country (Chrysler employees and supplier employees) would be thrilled................
