Jayco Jayflight - opinions from owners...?

My son, who grew up camping with us, is now looking for a TT for his young family (SWMBO + 2 small rug rats).

They like the floor plan of a Jayflight, but our we don't really have any current knowledge of the various travel trailer brands.

Any opinions from owners of the Jayco brand and the Jayflight model in particular?

Any particular trouble spots to look for when looking at one of these?

Thanks for any info.

We continue to love our Jayflight 29FBS! Bought it new in '06 and besides some early minor fixes such as loose screws, etc., it's been a pleasure!

I have a 2013 Jayflight 26RLS. Love the trailer and haven't had one issue. The dealership where I bought the trailer is just as good. I would absolutely buy another Jayco.

Our Jayco started leaking after 22 days and another at the same campground had leaking as well. After poor service from dealer and Jayco saying it was maintenance (after 22 days??? on a new trailer) will never buy another Jayco!

We absolutely love out Jayco Jayflight 27BH. Not a single issue. It is a 2007 model and we picked it up used last year. This is our second season with it. I would recommend a Jayco to everyone.
Thanks,
Brian

My friend works for an RV dealer. It seems that Jayco has a slightly different business model than most other RV manufactures. They rely on their dealers to "finish" the trailers. My friend was telling me that EVERY Jayco they receive from the factory needs work. He did say that once they finish doing the necessary work, the trailers usually are the best looking ones on the lot from a fit and finish standpoint.
I wouldn't have a problem buying one knowing that. It seems that the dealers get very experienced working on the Jayco trailers more than others.

.

Jayflight is their most common "middle ground" model.
I hear Eagle is their top of the line.
White Hawk is above the Jayflight models.

If focusing on Jayco maker, recommend the comparison of these 3 model lines. Then, decide which of these 3 model lines is best - for you. As you mentioned, floor layout is the highest ranking selection criteria.

If wondering, my family has a 2006 Jayco Jayflight 29FBS. I call it the 80% range model. 80% is built great. 10% build average and 10% items are under designed. If wondering, I had to fix that 10% weak design myself.

Would I buy Jayco Jayflight model again? Sure. I know understand how to fix that 10% weak design area myself.

Hope this helps..

We bought a new used 2011 32BHDS. Our dream trailer, less fiberglass siding. The Jay Flight had been the #1 selling trailer for over 11 years. We love the heavy duty frame. It does not bounce and twist and bend like the light weights, but it is built to last.
Thought I needed fiberglass sides, but after having this one, the ease of fixing aluminum is an upside for me. I have been through a bad 7 years with other trailers, and always said I'd own a Jayco in the end. I do, and could not be happier.

Tell your son not to go too small. My two rug rats and a new dog made us outgrow a 23 footer, which we opted for over a 31 footer that fell apart. That was a mistake- especially on rain days. Now our 32 footer is the cats meow. The only downside is a 1/2 ton isn't going to pull it effectively.

This is our third season in our 2011 25BHS. We love it. The wife, myself and two sons mostly do 3 day trips, but we have towed it to Disney. Plenty of space for all, good storage. I would highly recommend it. We plan on keeping this one for many years and let our sons keep growing into it.

I can not even begin to express my happiness with Jayco Campers!! I previously owned a 19BH and recently upgraded to a 28BHS. When we started getting serious about upgrading we went back through the list of camper dealers and started looking at them all again but the quality of the Jayco for the price we paid was fantastic. I would buy a third one again in a heart beat!

I had a Jayflight 20BH for 5 years without any issues whatsoever. Never had to take it back for anything. Sold the Jayflight and purchased a Jayco Eagle which has been flawless as well.

Just this past weekend we were at Camping World in Kingston NY scoping out our next Jayco. We were talking with a salesperson at CW and he told us they have practically zero problems with the Jayco trailers. He said the same could not be said for the other brands on the lot. A lot of people buy for the price which is understandable or just for looks. He was telling us about a Coleman TT that people buy just because of the bathroom. It looks great, but the rest of the trailer left a lot to be desired.

We absolutely love our Jayflight 28BH. I bought the Jayco for its quality reputation and my opinion is that it is your best bang for your buck compared to similar models. We bought it new in 06 and when its time for a new one I will buy another Jayco.

Jayco has a great reputation in general. Fiver in my sig continues to be solid, well constructed, and so far problem free with only usual maintenance.
