Looking at the Grand Design 2150RB and the LivinLite 21RBS. This is the floor plan that works for us. Same floor plan that we have in our KZ except larger.

I got to see the GD trailers at the Nashville show and was impressed with quality. Haven't seen the LivinLite trailers yet but theres a dealer about 1 hour away.

My question is how do these 2 brands compare to each other? I know the basic specs, one is lighter, one is wider, one has larger holding tanks ect...

So what do you think as far as the construction quality of the 2 brands?

candie and djsamuel, thank-you for that input. That's the kind of info that helps. Sorry for the delayed response, been out of town & away from the computer for the last 6 days......thanks again!

We have a Camplite 21BHS from LivinLite very similar to the 21RBS but with bunks instead of more storage and larger bathroom. It is a very well made trailer with no wood in its construction. We've been happy with it and do not regret the purchase at all.

The trailer mfg's list the product specification R-value. It is one of the more conniving ways to have market-speak describe an end-product.

The use of foil/plastic bubble sheeting increases R-value about R-1.5 in the way trailer builders use it. It also helps to keep convective heat transfer down.

All they have for insulation in the floor is thin white foam board and the ceiling is batt insulation and a layer of Radiant Foil over both. From what I've read about the foil is that it needs an air space to work. There's no way to get an air space the way they install it.
It seems that most RV MFG do it that way. Not really sure how they think it's supposed to work and give 30-45 R values.
Maybe there's some insulation experts on here that can explain the process.

My job requires that I inspect our products in the units while on the production lines and I have been in the Livin Lite plant and can tell you that from what I have seen they are built well. I would purchase a Livin Lite unit myself if I were in the market for that type of floor plan. I have not been in the GD plant.

Here's my take: the confusion was generated by the first two sentences of the original post. Some of the replies were less than helpful. How about if everyone takes a breath, starts over and answers the question about how the construction quality the Grand Design and LivinLite brands compare?

DTR,
I was well aware of the observations that Soundguy made i posted i knew the basic specs "one is lighter, one is wider, one has larger holding tanks.

My question was a quality of build not where the door is located. Generally speaking the floor plans are the same, kitchen location, bathroom location, bed location.

Im asking about quality as stated in my last sentence of my OP

And I'm also aware the fridges are on opposite sides

Seems to me that someone spilled your Cheerios this morning. Sound Guy and I both just made observations and were giving opinions. If you don't want observations or opinions maybe you shouldn't ask for them.

and...you can always ask to become a moderator here on the Forum and then you can decide what can be posted and what can't.

Grand Design 71 gal gray water tank, LivinLite 32 gal. gray water.

Just somethings to think about.

I know I read your original post in which you said -

"Looking at the Grand Design 2150RB and the LivinLite 21RBS. This is the floor plan that works for us. Same floor plan that we have in our KZ except larger."

Ummmm ... how can 2 distinctly different floorplans, one a rear entry design and the other a mid entry design, be the "Same floor plan that we have in our KZ except larger"? :h

Livinlite has a pantry to the right of the stove. The floor plan doesn't mark it as such but I looked at the pics on rvtrader.

Grand Design 2150RB

Livin Lite CL21RBS

These 2 floorplans are entirely different ... perhaps you could clarify? :h

As an aside though I really like that pull out pet dish in the GD! :B

Not looking for hair splitting basically the same floorplan, bed up front couch in the slide w/ fold up table, bathroom in the rear
