Well I finally had to make it official... I've been lurking (stalking?) the TC forum and many others (boondocking, tow vehicles, etc...) for the past three years without making a contribution to this excellent resource. Here's a brief intro...
I've been camping with family since I was just a couple weeks new. Mom and Dad threw me in the carseat of a '74 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 8' camper tied to the back. There were deer that needed hunting, fish that needed catching, and campfires that needed tending, so we went... This was the first of hundreds of trips for me during my childhood that were mostly in Oregon and boondock-style. Great memories.
Fast-forward 30-odd years and my wife and I got to return the favor with our first addition at three weeks old on the Oregon Coast. Shared that trip with some fantastic in-laws and everyone had a great time. (County park with full hook-ups was a requirement for DW at that stage of newly expanded family...
๐That first trip iced the future for the BigBlockFord family; many more trips have followed, each of which reminds me how lucky we are to live where we live. Great family, country, food, & beer just to name a few...more on these topics later...
Many trips have followed across Oregon, mostly in USFS or county campgrounds. Now we call a AF990 home when on the road (or off-road), with two kids and two dogs. It works perfectly for us and we love it.
I'm hip-deep in a solar install (240W, PWM controller, bat. upgrade to follow) this weekend and will try my hand at posting pictures on that project. Suffice to say, if you have a AF990 from 2011, the pre-wired for solar can mean different things to different people- Ha!
Ok, gotta close this out for now (just heard the little one wake up). Safe camping to all.
