Members welcoming fellow members

Original post--
You know, I got to thinkin. Those of you who know me know that's dangerous. This is only a thought, I thought I'd throw it out there.

All of us travel. Duh, that's why we have campers. Who all would be interested in putting there names on a list of "Members Welcome". A list of members that welcomes other members to stay the night in their driveway when they're on the road.

Of course, opting-in would be completely optional. My thought here is that a list is done up with only screen names. When a member is planning on being in the area, they forum-email the other member for the address and see if that member is available to welcome guests that night. That way, the address is not out in the public and no unexpected surprises happen.

Just a thought.

Edited 1-6-2014

We are going to clean out the list and start a new one. Go to the post dated 1-3-2014 for more info.

Here is the latest "cleaned up" list.

And yes, it's a screenshot, not a text-list. Sorry. The forum doesn't support any kind of formatting, like tables or tabs, so when I tried to list it as text it looked like a jumbled mess.

Here is the latest "cleaned up" list.

This supersedes any previous list, as these people have confirmed they are still interested in being on the list. As I get more replies or IM's I'll update the list back on the original first post.

I don't have any hookups, But I have a lot of pastures, and wooded area a person could dry camp on here in Oklahoma. If any of you ever have the misfortune of breakdowns in my area or any kind of emergency problems I will do all I can to help. I have tools, welders, cutting torches and all that jazz ๐Ÿ™‚ I would just hate to be stranded somewhere with no friends. So if your ever in need and your close to the 73450 area code, message me and Ill come get you. My land In Arizona is almost impossible to find, Its off of Highway 180 west of the snow Bowl and MT Humphreys. There are no road signs or markers, and the roads turns to like a forest road and heads off through the junipers and conifer's in the direction of the Canyon. I guess long ago kids tore down all the signs or they just fell down. But I found some of the signs on the ground. Its Canyon Vista Road 7 miles before you get to valle. But the signs gone lol.

I am just off I95 in north central Maine in the shadow of Mount Katahdin (the end of the Appalachian Trail). I have a level area near the house as well as several other areas on the 344 acres I own. Electric could be available and potable water as well. No dumping of black water available. PM me first as I do tend to travel when I can.

We now have a paid parking area that caters to mountain bikers (pays for our camping trips and 10% goes to a local club). But, we have a level spot near the house where you can plug in. No dump or potable water (non-potable yes). We are usually home intermittently during the summer and always during the winter. We usually go on long trips during the spring and fall). We are on 6 acres with quick access to I5 between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. We would enjoy meeting our fellow TCers.

So,
I definitely agree. I originally posted this 6 years ago. The problem is, a lot of members aren't active on here anymore, have come and gone, or maybe just lost interest in the forum.

Six months ago (just a few posts behind this one) I posted a need for an update and who still wanted to be on the list. Dakota was the only response.

So...

My thought is we need to clear the list and start it over. I've recently gotten a couple IM's from people who want to be added to the list.

If we do this, the original premise still stands -

* Ask a member via Forum Email as far in advance as you can asking to stay, and how long. That member will say yes or no and email back an address. No response of course means no.

* Only ask to stay one night - the intent is to offer a "we're just passing through" camping spot, not to impose on someone for days at a time.

* No direct personal info will be shared on the forum, eg, phone, email, address, etc.

* Your listing needs to include a city/town or some other ROUGH description of your location
**And**
* What you're willing to offer-- eg, Power(15A,30A,50A), Water, Sewer Hookup/Tank Dump

X2 on Roundtowner's suggestion of updating this thread. It would be great to be able to meet others on this Forum that extends an invitation to leave the light on for you and need a place to stay when travelling the country.

Agree with DJ. PM previous is imperative here.

I'd hate to be in Texas while my neighbors in North Dakota are talking about that nice new camper it appears I have is sitting in my driveway.

I'm confused, your profile says SD, but here you refer to living in ND. I thought only national media announcers didn't know which is which. LOL

Is there an update for this thread? I think the last post was in June and I'm not sure if the list or idea is still active and viable. I think it's great idea. It seems like a great way to meet some of the people that post the many topics on TCs.
Please update and post again.
Thanks, Larry.

Yup, you can leave me on the list. The only caveat is that whoever camps at my place needs to be able to back up a curving uphill narrow driveway without taking out my lampposts and retaining wall.. ๐Ÿ™‚ 20 amp service and water only also. Pay dump at a campground across the lake from me, or if you have a portable tank tank and can get it up a flight of rock stairs you can empty it into the sewer cleanout.

Wow.

I forgot all about this, I posted it 6 years ago. The domain I posted the original file under has long since been discontinued.

I guess before I re-post the list, we should find out if the people on it still want to be on it. If you see your name on here, let me know either way if you still want to be on the list.

I know there have been names added throughout the life of this thread, so if this looks like something we want to resurrect, I'll work on it.

Is there a problem with the link that shows TC owners who are willing to allow others to park on their property? Or is my computer acting up?

I get sent to a webpage that appears to have a domain that is inactive. Anyone else?

PM me if you need a spot to rest. I can offer water, electric and a spot to dump. Additionally, depending on my own work schedule, I can offer a third hand and tons of unsolicited advice. I live in the 21645 zip.
