Mid 90's Lance Light Bulb Question

Hello truck camper forum!

I'd like to get my dad some LED lights for his camper, but wanted to confirm the bulb style before ordering. I don't have access to his camper currently as it's in storage, so thought I'd ask here.

It's a '93 or '96 Lance Squire 8 or 8.5 foot if it matters.

I'm looking for the style of bulb in the incandescent lights - does it use a regular BA15 bayonet base bulb (like 1141 or 1156), or is it something different?

Yes, the ebay auction I linked is $14 for 10 bulbs with free shipping. At that price, if they burn out in a year or two, I won't feel too bad, but might search more dilligently for the higher voltage range. My link is also from a seller in Washington state, so they arrived to me (Idaho) very quickly!

I did turn on some lights while charging my battery near 14 volts and didn't notice anything unusual.

Check Amazon, I just saw LED 1141's for about $1.50 each
be sure to look close and buy ones that are marked for a voltage Range like 12v - something higher. (the ones I use are not the same base, but they are rated 12v-28v)

The ones marked 12V will run pretty hot when powered by a campers internal system that is charging the batteries at 13.8 volts or so. I have even seen threads of people burning some of the 12v ones at camper voltages.

Also look at color. 5000K is real white, almost blue and I feel has bad glare. I changed out the "white" ones in my Wolf Creek with 3500K. now they are a little more yellow like the old incandescent bulbs.

My 88 LC980 had 1141's on the interior and most exterior are 1156, and the clearance lights are 194's. I've already replaced all my interiors with LED's, and I am working on replacing all exterior lights with LED as well. The drop in amp draw alone is worth the cost.

I got the 5050 leds with 27 emitters wide range of voltage too they were 10 bucks a piece off amazon405 lumens.

I figured they would be fairly standard, but confirmation is good. Pcolpin made me think to check the Lance website & I found mid 90's owners manuals there - they also mention 1156 and 921s.

I agree that warm white is the way to go, I have some for my trailer, and can't tell the difference between the LEDs and the original. I got mine from here:

I've only used them for a couple of trips so can't comment on durability, but so far so good!

Mine are a bit more expensive than the ones linked by trail-explorer, but they have 27 vs 24 LEDs. On the other hand, trail-explorer's specify a large voltage range, so may be more tolerant of abuse. Thanks for the links!

mine is a squire i think its a 97.It has the 1156 bulbs and i changed them out to LED.I went with the warm white they have the same color temp as the 1156 did or very close.They are just as bright maybe a tad more but the power savings is big.

I changed the 3 outside and 5 inside.The restroom,and bed area lights that get low use i left the old bulbs in there.

My 89 are all 1156 bulbs except the wardrobe closet. I even pulled the incandescent and wired up a standard 12v fixture.

You could also call Lance and they can bring that information up.

I think the safest thing to do is pull one of your batteries and take a look. I thought mine were bayonet, but they weren't! BTW, I'm liking my M4 LEDs so far. This weekend we get a chance to try them boondocking.
