hello all, in my 2006 gmc 2500 410 rear 4wd w lance 915 ive been getting around 12mpg for the past 6 yrs ,now im looking to upgrade to a 3500/f 350 maybe a diesil. just curious what kind of mileage are you getting ?? thanks pete

No the ladies were never in the stories. He is a truck guy that spends his money on tweaking the truck and not on the ladies :B :h

That is what he is telling me and I have no reason to think he is exaggerating. Do not know if that is the computer or hand calculated.

Let me try again....

I have a 2002 GMC 2500 HD with a 6L that gets around 11.7 up to 11.9 mpg as an average on most trips, flat to the foothills.

In the mountains I get a lot better from 12 to 14 mpg.

Would love a truck that gets better MPG but have not found one and I have looked at a lot.

My brother drives a 3500HD diesel tricked out with all the toys and can get in the low to mid 40's pulling their large cargo trailer on the highway. I would LOVE to put the TCer on his truck to see what it does to the MPG, have a feeling it would drop like a brick.

You are saying your brother is getting 40mpg with his 3500 diesel pickup truck while towing??? Is that average, or just what the onboard computer is reading for instant mileage while going down hill with the wind behind him????

Maybe I should mention we drive in Florida on flat ground . When we go to the mountains an we have the mpg does change. We have 185000 miles on the truck an the last time we weighted the combo weighted in at a little over 12200pounds

That is really good highway mileage... but thinking about it, cruising at 55mph that certainly doable. And it would be interesting for you to hand calculate the mileage when you get a chance.

That's interesting... my 2008 F250 5.4 gas consistently OVER-reports mileage by .5mpg!

I bought a Ford diesel new in 2007. Traded it in in 2010 for a Ford 6.2 gasser with a 4.1 rear. Dont regret it one bit, for much the same reasons above. There is no economy reason for a diesel, in fact it costs more to run per mile than a gasser. For pure power and torque the diesel wins out but its overkill for the purpose of carrying a 4k camper.
Milage @ 60mph with the diesel 12.5 mpg best case senerio. Milage with the 6.2 gasser a solid 10.5 mpg. Not enough differance to warrant a switch for purely mpg savings.

You have eaten more sour grapes about a diesel engine equipped pickup than anyone I have ever read. Go sell it and get that gas burner.

My minimum recommended oil change interval for my diesel engine equipped pickup is 7,500 miles and up to 15,000 miles. My truck is 8 months old and has over 14,000 miles.

You are also about the only person in the Northern hemisphere that I read about having a hard time finding diesel fuel.

The day I buy a gasser pickup is the day that they quit selling diesel pickups or I just don't have a real need for one.
