Hey everyone. Just a quick question. I've negotiated what I think is a pretty good price on a 2014 21 ft trailer. Would it be worth spending an extra $1,000 to get a 2015 of the same trailer? We're talking the difference between 16k and 17k.

Thanks everyone for your input. Literally the only difference is the year the 2014 has sat out in the elements. I'm told all construction/electrical is the same All interior options are the same. It's a Rockwood Mini Lite 2104s. Price is $15,795 (plus we get $150 gift card) for the 2014, or $15,995 for the 2015, but we'd need to pay to have window shades put in which is $125 plus labor. I think I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill... ๐Ÿ™‚ It sounds like most of you just say save the money and go with the '14.

No clue where "Round Lake" is but if the 2014 sat out in the Texas sun for any length of time the balance could swing a bit in favour of the 2015. Sunshine / UV rays kill many trailers, some parts faster than others. If it was exposed for not too long and you are putting it under shade when not using it then 2014 is probably okay.

Look up the price difference between a used 2014 and a used 2015. That should be the discount for the older model. I am betting that it is more than $1,000. Both will be "used" as soon as you tow them off the lot.

There are a few philosophies which are all fine. I would go for the newer one, or even customer order. Most brands have been in production of 2015s for 6 months. So a 2014 on a lot model is at least that old, maybe over a year. For me, that's xxx people touring it. That's my priority, assuming all else equal. Chances are they are no identical, interior colors, couple options here or there. That would sway me more towards one other the other more than price. That $1k difference seems insignificant to the cost of RVing. My advice is to get the one you want more than the $1000. If the one you want also costs less, awesome!

If they're exactly the same then pick then I'd save the money. I would pay the extra if there's some construction or electrical upgrades from the previous model year.

Not sure what brand you're getting and that makes a difference, but we bought a new 2014 26' Bunk House last spring for less than that. PM me with details if you want.

If you get the newer one, you're basically paying $1000 more, to make back $500 on a trade in a few years.

If that. I agree with the above - no changes then waste of time. TTs don't hold their value anyway.

That would depend Were there any structural or other major construction changes made? Appliance upgrades?

All things to consider.

What are the differences between the model years? Anything substantial or just different trim? That $1000.00 will get you lots of accessories for your new rig.
Remember it only will make a difference right now if you go to resell it. As time goes by the resale difference between model years shrinks so that in 7-8 years the difference in resale may only be a couple hundred dollars.
So from an economic point of view there is no good reason to do it.
