That sounds like a pretty good deal. With 10,500 miles, comes out to 38 cents a mile in depreciation it's cost you. I don't see how the dealer comes out well on that. Normally depreciation is pretty heavy the first couple of years.

Bummer, if it was a TT you were pulling instead of a fifth wheel you could probably just get a loaner off their used car lot, or rent a 2500 for your trip. But needing a fifth wheel hitch makes all that extremely unlikely. But what the heck, I think asking for a loaner to pull a fifth wheel is still worth a shot; who knows, maybe they can hook you up.

So...your rear hub was loose and leaking oil, and it ruined the differential...... but it had nothing to do with the recall to check the spindle nut torque? Granted, the story has obviously got multiple layers of getting passed along from the tech, to the service advisor, then your words.... My guess is that it was direct result.
I'm certainly no mechanic, but I was thinking along the same line you were that there had to be a correlation? I was told that if it was a loose axle nut the gear oil would have been all over the outside of the wheel, not the inside? But like I said, I'm no mechanic. Once I get the truck back and talk with the service guy again and see the paperwork, I'll update this too.
