New Diesel for me!

My 1999 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 7.4L had a long life, but it finally was time to retire it. I have always wanted a diesel, so I bought super clean 2004 Ford F-350 Diesel SRW Super Cab with 93K on it last week.

I want to tow my TT so bad, but we are in the middle of moving into our new house, so I don't have the time to do it for at least another couple of weeks.

I know I am going to love towing with the diesel, but I just have to wait until I have the time to go out with it.

Chomping at the bit.....:(

Good choice. Suggest getting a Scangauge II (~$120 and plugs into OBD port) to help monitor vitals. Is a strong motor, just need to keep an eye on things.

The ones that had problems have been fixed. This one made it to 10 years so probably already has all the updates.

Congrats on the new truck.

Well hoping you got a great deal on it, and got one of the good ones. Find a good non dealer diesel shop, and have them give it a good once over.
The 6.0 can be a great towing diesel, but you will need to be right on with maintenance. stay on top of oil, and coolant changes.
Have the EGR cooler checked out, and yes coolant filter.

You might look into this outfit and have some discussions with them on warning signs of possible issues. BulletProofDiesel

Here hoping you have one of the good ones!:)

An exhaust brake will make it even more enjoyable in the mountains. Have fun.

Oh wow. Congratulations on the newer vehicle. But sadly I guess you forgot to do your resesrch on the infamous 6.0L Ford motors. They are notorious for having a lot of serious issues.
I got the reports run on the vehicle (clean history) and got it inspected by my mechanic. I also bought a 2-year warranty which includes the turbo. This truck was a road princess. The receiver tube on the hitch is as clean as the day it was made, so it never towed.

I have several friends who have driven their Ford 6.0L for many, many miles with no problems. The only people who write about them are the ones who had trouble.

I am aware of the 6.0L history and will do the mods necessary to keep it running for a long time to come.

If your engine does not have a coolant filter on it install one asap. This will help keep the egr and oli coolers from clogging up. Also get some type of engine monitor such as a Scan Gauge II to monitor your coolant and oil temperatures. Good luck and you'll love the way a diesel pulls.

Oh wow. Congratulations on the newer vehicle. But sadly I guess you forgot to do your resesrch on the infamous 6.0L Ford motors. They are notorious for having a lot of serious issues. Start right now, do the research and spend the money to make it decent. Dont wait!
