They have underbelly car washes in Buffalo NY but your doors freeze shut and you have to call 911 to get out.

When the temps hit 100, ill try to remind myself of the upside of living in Houston, never any need to worry about rust anywhere on the vehicle.

My issues were from years of camping on the beach, with the salt air condensing with the cooler evening temps then evaporating in the daytime and leaving the salt residue behind. The undercarriage rinse helps....I used to spray the truck down thoroughly when I got back from the beach...BUT...most of the damage was where you couldn't spray, namely where the lines ran on top of the fuel tank. If rust looks bad where you can see it, chances are it will be worse where you can't see it.

Have friends who lived in northern Minnesota who absolutely refused to drive any of their good vehicles during the winter.

They'd find some beaters that would work and drive them around. Leave the good vehicles in the garage until spring.

One had a company vehicle he drove and used at work. Oil pan rusted through.

You might also check out THIS stuff.

Someone should really invest in undercarriage type car wash's. They'd make money in the north anyway.

I don't live where some of you guys do where they throw road salts, but I do
or used to ski a lot up in Lake Tahoe where they do salt the roads

I've always washed down the belly after coming home with my DIY spray system

Ditto that for father in law who lives in Boise

Just made a simple spray system of PVC and lawn sprinkler heads hooked up to
his hot water heater via a hose

I also buy spray paint on sale and always take a can with me whenever I'm underneath

Spray anything that even remotely looks like it needs a shot.

Noticed similar on my 01. Just replaced all of the heavily rusted brake and fuel lines with stainless, along with the diff cover. Noticed that the front of the diff was heavily rusted to where it was coming off in sheets. I cleaned it up and painted with hi-temp primer and paint and looks a lot better, did the same to the frame and underbody, hoping to keep the rust at bay a few more years. No leaks on mine yet.

On that one in the pic, you might be able to put some JB Weld or metal epoxy putty in there to plug the holes and get a few more miles out of it.
