As I have been driving Ford trucks since I was old enough to drive, I was kind of biased. With few exceptions my family has had Ford trucks. I currently have a '99 F250 Lariat CC SB 4WD w/v10 & 4.30's. She's been an outstanding Truck so far, just getting a little old and tired.
GM: just plain don't like the way they look inside or out. I didn't feel comfortable in the one I drove. The DMax seemed to have lots of git-up and go. Just not for me.......or the wife.
Ford: Again don't care for the new look. My sis has an '08 F350 SRW KR road/drove it from Anchorage to Tok to Fairbanks to Anchorage, making the big triangle of AK. the interior was over the top, and the saddle leather the KR has is not comfortable after about 2 hrs! Let alone 12! The diesel is a new design.
Ram: I really like the new look. The CTD has been an excellent engine for a long time. The Limited is very understated inside and out. I was able to get one for a whole afternoon (a 3500 CC LB DRW Limited w/CTD) took the long way home, picked up the wife and we drove it on a combination of back roads, in town and freeway. The ride was very nice. We took it to a Wally World parking lot and drove it around and parked a few times to check out how it maneuvered. (It did better than my Ford in the turning) have to watch out for those wide hips though. I hooked up with a guy at work who has a Mega SRW and drove his and liked the extra room in the back. Occasionally I play taxi for our older family members and I'm sure they will enjoy the comforts. As to why the DRW? I plan to get a bigger 5er and a GN trailer to haul cars and equipment.
Air suspension for the 3500's is not available.
