OUTLET>>>

Good Morning-

I have a DT in MI my electrical outlet it seems to no be working.
This is for the fireplace I know the fireplace works because I use a different outlet and it works fine. My question is it possible that the outlet it self is broke? And can I use a house outlet to replace the old one?:?

Thank you all!!
  • Some RV's have microwave and fireplace on the same circuit. The two cannot be run at the same time, so, there is a switch (like a light switch) in the circuit that allows one or the other to receive power. With switch in one position, microwave works and fireplace does not. With switch in other position, fireplace works and microwave does not. Maybe this is the situation here.

Check that you don't have an outlet upstream that's a GFCI that's tripped.

  • Checked breaker and tried to reset.....???

    Was the breaker tripped?
    Did the breaker reset??

Is the problem outlet the first in circuit?
If first....does it have power to/at it?

If not first.....problem could be at outlet upstream.

The most obvious question I have is: have you checked the breaker?
Yes I did check the breaker and try to reset it, to no avail.

  • If it is the self contained style, you must first pry the grey back/cover off, then pry the wire off the pins. You must do this pretty staright off each end evenly. Have you got the receptacle out of the wall? There is the ears in the opposite corners. Look for the screws, but do not remove them completely as the ears will fall off in the wall.
Is this in a slide as the flex cord under neither could be the problem?
Have you plugged in one of the three light tester to see if it identifies the problem?

Qualified, No for using a standard residential receptacle. You would have to look at the one you have. Many RVs us a self-contain receptacle that does not utilize a box. Yes you can install a shallow box and a residential receptacle. picture of self contained
I would not condemn the receptacle. Remove it from the wall, if it is self contained, make sure the rear clamp/back is pushed and secure. This back pushes the conductors against sharp pins that make the connection.
It may not be this receptacle. It could be the one between this one and the AC panel.
Bud- How come is so hard for me to remove the wire from the old outlet?
    Thank you,
