I saw this yesterday. Poor TC looks to be in pretty bad shape.

At least here in the midwest, and I think it applies all over, you can only double tow with a fifth wheel primary. Think about it the fifth wheel has much more tounge weight, so it can handle the extra load on the back bumper. A normal bumper pull will get a teeter totter effect on the center unit from the rear unit. The whole set up pictured looks like something to be avoided. I wonder how many of those axels have live braking.

Lots of weight to tow behind a half ton.

That setup has a long, long life ahead of it. It is mated to a Dodge bed!

I would be afraid to sleep in that cabover. You can see it buckling just behind the cabover part.

By the droop of the cabover, it looks like the owners need to lose some weight.

The fiver is great when you stay put in one place or have 5-6 people sleeping in it. For traveling, the TC wins hands down.

Specularius,
I was wondering how you liked the 5th wheel? I was thinking of going to the dark side due to having 4 kids and not enough room! I was only thinking about a 25-27 ft 5th wheel though.

It is in bad shape, but still better shape than the 69 Franklin I grew up camping in. On it's last trip, my father had to stop at Home Depot to buy two 2x4s to put between the bed rails and camper as the side wings were sagging. A little later he tore it apart due to all the water damage from 30+ years of use. Regretted it ever since wishing he had rebuilt all the exterior walls, floor, and ceiling one section at a time.

But this is how I much rather go with the boat.

This is in Louisiana. It is legal to double tow in Louisiana. I have done it myself. Here is a picture of one time I did.

That cabover's sagging pretty bad, for sure.

All that picture means is, he hasn't gotten caught with his hillbilly train.

Double towing is not legal in NY state, yet just last week I saw a 5ver towing a jetski down Interstate 490 in Rochester.

Putting 10-ply tires on half ton trucks since aught-four.

What state where you in? Looks like they don't have a triple tow rule.
