Usage is the factor when picking out a truck camper.
Cold weather , unimproved access to site , ect.
We have a 2013 palomino B-800.
Light and low profile , best fit for our use.

I did not see anyone recommend Travel Lite. I feel that the pop ups are pretty good for the price. I like mine a lot. I have a 875 PSBR which works well for what we do. We pull a heavy boat and I did not want to overload my truck.

bbqfreak - You might want to check out the new 2014 Palomino SS-550 that's featured in Truck Camper Magazine's latest news update. Very impressive rig for a short bed crew cab half ton truck for around $10,500 if it's the price you're concerned about.

Geez RWDIII! How did you miss dadwolf2's post where he asked me, "What is a weight sticker requirement?"

I was answering him, nothing to do with your post.

What is a weight sticker requirement? In Nevada, DMV has no licensing requirements for a truck camper and Highway Patrol doesn't get involve with RV's unless there is an accident on the highway. My camper doesn't have a weight sticker, my 5th wheel did. Many truck camper manufacturers put one on though and include a horizontal COG. Although IMO, there are two COG measurements: horizontal and vertical. I am really curious about those BIG truck campers vertical COG, when they build their campers over the truck rails.

IMO, you really need to personally visit each brand for yourself. Me telling you that I really like my Outfitter or some body else telling you they like their Four Wheel Camper doesn't help you much at all. For instance, while I have a lot of respect for Four Wheel Campers, I wouldn't get one. Not enough amenities, too difficult to get in and out of to name a few things. But others prefer the lightness and simplicity of FWC. Are tank capacities important to you? Bathroom & shower option? Do you want to be able to use the bathroom while the top is down? Bunch of things to consider based on your priorities.

I did a fair amount of research on this at one point and decided that if I go pop-up, I will go with Hallmark. A very good product from a well run company. Premium priced, though.

while i do not own a TC - at the present time - i would get a Hallmark.
that is if i could afford one. they are high price. my second choice would be the Outfitter, then a Northstar. my choices are based mainly on size. i want a 9 1/2 to 10 footer. and must be 'self contained', that is AC, toilet, etc.
the nice thing about both the Hallmark and Outfitter is they have large fresh and waste tanks. Palomino has no grey water tank.

The OP didnโ€™t mention what type of truck the camper was going on. I thought I would just mention that most of us here know that many of these pop up campers will push you deep into ยพ or 1 ton territory.

Some of the manufactures seem to vastly under state the true weight of their products. With Hallmark I knew exactly what my camperโ€™s true weight was.
