I finished the install of my Torklift 30k lb SuperHitch and rear tiedowns yesterday as well as the Timbrens on my 21 Ram 3500 DRW. Installed the front tiedowns last week.
I’ve used Happijack successfully for years on other trucks, but I’m very impressed with the Torklift hitch and tiedowns. These things are Beefy and Solid.
The directions were spot on and the install went very smoothly.
I had to remove the rear bumper to install the hitch. I almost went with the Happijack rear tiedowns that fasten to the bumper but so glad I didn’t.
The rear bumper on a 1ton DRW is almost all plastic and probably didn’t weigh 20 lbs.
I would have destroyed that on the first trip. Time for a Buckstop bumper.
Now, I able to seriously look for a new camper. Unfortunately, the supply isn’t like it used to me.
I want a 9-10’ single slide like a Lance 981 or AF990.
I’m going to look at a 2019 AF990 in like new condition tomorrow.
I’ve read some reviews complaining about delamination issues on AF truck campers.
I think this was on older models and the issue was addressed on the newer ones.
Anyone have a newer AF or know of any issues to be aware of?

Happijac's are not so great on new trucks with all the plastic and aluminum, torklift is the way to go on them.

Congrats on the new camper! I would say post pics but on this forum its a royal PIA.

Great news. Your setup is very much like ours, I added a Roadmaster sway bar and it handles very nicely. Enjoy your AF990.

Thanks for the replies.
I picked up a beautiful 2019 990 yesterday. Bought from the original owner who only used it about 6 times.
It’s pretty well loaded with gen, Fox landing and small solar panel. He included the Torklift tiedown turnbuckles.
I have the granite crystal Ram and the colors match perfectly.
I have the Timbrens on my truck and it handles like a dream. No need for any more suspension mods but I may install the Hellwig Big Wig sway bar since i already have from my 17 Ram.
So far I’m very impressed with this camper and will be using it a lot in the future.
To nitpick something, they could have installed a low profile A/C and made a shorter TV antenna it it would have reduce the overall height by 6-8”.

Delam problems I've seen are all because people didn't keep them from leaking, and that's been on models 12+ years old.

I bought a 2010 811 new in November of 2009. It never gave me any issues. It didn't delaminate. I maintained it well and never leaked either.

I sold it last year because I wanted to try a different floor plan and have an onboard generator.

We’re on our second 1140DB. The first one was a 2008 and we had zero problems with it. We traded that one in for a 2018 and build quality on this one is just as good. Check the factory sealing around all the outside lighting, inside the propane compartment and refer compartments and you’ll be fine as far as any delam problems.
Friends just ordered a 2022 1140 and were told it’s 7 months out.
Good luck on your search!

We bought a brand new 2013 AF811 in 2014 and are very happy with it. No delamination issues. It gets parked outside all the time but we bought an ADCO cover for it 4 years ago for the winters.

I also have a 2019 990 that we have had for a little over 3 years. Only had to wait 5 weeks from when I ordered it to when I picked it up. Times have changed a bit yeah? Quality is fine and have had no issues. I have been in Northern Lite's, Bigfoot, Adventure, and Host campers just to pick up any ideas or mods and the 990 is the one to beat for our usage. Having a slide out makes all the difference in the world and never feels like your close quarters. Just an FYI I paid 32k for mine. Didn't get the $4000 Genny and added one for $600 when I got it home. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.
Good luck in your search.

I guess we got our AF just in time. It was discounted pretty good in early 2019. I started to put a superhitch on my F450 but the Torklift Cannons hit the market and it works fine in my 3" stock hitch.

I have had no issues with my 2018/19 circa AF1140. Its well built and as I have been switching over to a big inverter and lithium batteries, I got to look over the wiring. Wires are well secured and bundled where in some I have seen spaghetti. Put about 20k miles on it so far. Not coming apart anywhere I can see. We do store it in out of the weather.

Good luck on your search.
