Re-occuring topics

No scientific data to back it up; but it seems topics go in cycles. There seems to be a lot of water heater questions recently. Is it because we all go through the same problems, but we experience them at different times?

And I agree it's largely seasonal, and either folks not knowing about or not using the search function...or poor results. I manage a couple or listservs at work and deal with the same issues...cyclical there and not really a seasonal topic either. Maybe just human nature.

For some questions, a little time can bring new solutions, ideas, etc. Just because WD hitches were discussed (for example) a lot last year, doesn't mean there isn't new info available. I'm considering getting an Andersen hitch, and when I get closer to getting one, I'll post on getting opinions.
As to the OP about cycles, I think you are probably correct. Which I think is a good thing.

The OP wasn't complaining or judging in any way, yet it appeals to some to start blasting away, whether he deserves it or not.

I think he's showing considerable restraint.

"solved, hijacked, or abandoned"....... or CLOSED !

As for search, I have found with most forums, the better way to search is to go outside the forum, and just use google or yahoo, put in the name of the forum, plus the words you want to search. It often will give you something, while conversely, just using the search in a forum itself will often come back empty.

You couldn't have said this better. Some folks have a bit too much time on their hands!

Ok, it looks like this one isn't going to quite make 3 pages before somebody brings up "search " (whether it's applicable or not). It was mentioned in the 3rd response on Page 1!

I posted the original to start a conversation. That certainly worked! The answer was in the responses, as usual! I think it is because the same problems crop up for people during shakedown, first trip of the season, or winterization. These are events that tend to be happening for everyone at the same time.

3 pages? I predict (a game I played with the kids) that most topics generate about 3 pages of interest and then they are solved, hijacked, or abandoned.

Reoccurring topics help new members immensely.

Not everyone has hung out here for five years or more.

The reoccurring post is often the first time a new member has had a chance to see the information within it.

As a moderator once told me: Don't like a post? Don't read it, just move on.

Good advice.

FWIW: I was not sure *if* I'd actually be the first responder and I wished it to be clear to whom I was replying. Sorry if it is a hardship. It was not intended as such. Only trying to clearly communicate about the subject of the post.

And sorry. I just contributed to keeping the thread off topic.
