I purchased my second TT today and I'm amazed that there is so little about older Travel Trailers on the Internet. I don't suppose I'll be finding many threads about restoration and modification of old TTs here, but I thought I'd do a show and tell.

It's a 70s (1973?) Midas Volunteer? If you can tell me I'm open to the real identity. Gotta have pictures, so let's see if they come up.

Welcome to the site. Keep posting pictures and your progress, love to see someone restoring our history.

Had an '85 Wilderness 22 footer, except for the rotten bathroom floor (which I replaced) it was in pristine condition. Unfortunately the floor plan didn't work for us so had to sell it. Was so clean and so cool, sold the first day to the first caller (we priced it pretty high too).

The upside to these older TT's? All USA or Canadian parts.

Jalousie windows are pretty cool looking and they are great for rainy weather. Looks like you got a good one going there. Keep us updated and hopefully others will find some good info.

Also might want to check date of patent to confirm date of trailer.

Update patent filed in 1955 and granted in 1958.

Welcome to the forum.

Did I mention that I also have a Coleman Pop Up that I'm working on as well? It's a '93 Americana Brandywine model and it's destined to be a permanent storage trailer.

I found a video on YouTube last night about finding serial numbers on older trailers and cleaned off the trailer hitch tongue and this is wht I found.

If the harder to read stamping on the edge is the serial number than it might be a 1976 model?

What do you think?

Cool project!

Some friends had a late '70s Midas class C motor home. Judging from some of the components (my dad has a '77 Jayco travel trailer) I'd say this is late '70s not early.

Welcome to the forum.

Did you check Tin Can Tourists? It's a site for vintage TT's.

Yours is a little newer than mine but could be it's cousin (similar size). The link in my signature line, "the Cowboy/Hilton" is a pictured restoration thread. There are others in the "Vintage" sub-section of the "Travel Trailer" Forum.

Good luck with your Midas and welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to the forum. It's not bad at all. It looks pretty straight. You will get plenty of input in here and we love pics.

Run the VIN as the year is one of the two digits. DMV will know when you title it too.
