Removable Diesel Aux Fuel Tank

I would like to put in a removable aux fuel tank in my 06 Duramax. The 26g tank on the truck just isn't enough. I came across this and would like your thoughts.

Maybe someone else is better at posting links and can make this easier to use.

I don't want to break any laws and definitely don't want to be a danger to myself or others. I would like around 10-20g tank.

Is it OK for this guy to use a Marine tank? Are they DOT legal?

What you are looking for is called a "fuel station"..

Like THIS

It is a 15 gallon tank and is rated for gasoline, kerosene, diesel..

Unless you mount it above your bed you will need to add a fuel pump.

I have one that I use for my gas truck, I added a fuel filter and electric fuel pump rated for gas.. Takes about 11 minutes to pump empty and gives me an additional 150 miles on top of my trucks 35 gallon tank.

I mounted mine to a couple of 2x6s that are longer than the tank mount to stabilize the tank so it will not tip over. Works like a charm.

Transflo looks like a great idea, but the $1000 difference is a deal breaker for me. Besides, I only need it a half dozen times a year or so. Thanks for the input though.

Some people don't need it but a few times a year. Are transflow tanks easily removable to accommodate bed usage?

To be certified I would think the product would be certified for its intended purpose. So in this case maybe not. They also did not mention if they used a roll over vent. But if installed correctly seems it should work fine.

I have seen that guy on the Ram 1500 diesel site. Pretty neat little idea.
