FishOnOne

These are the states that have signed up to ban the sale of new cars starting in 2035.

All of the planned bans are in coastal states: In addition to California and Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Washington have made the commitment to stop allowing sales of new gas-powered vehicles after 2035.

For my RV friends that live outside of Kalfornia I realize you don't have any idea what laws have been passed in this state.

For those of you that say "that will never happen" or "good luck with that" bla. bla. bla.......lets do a very short and simple test.

Question: Can you register any diesel 2010 and older truck weighing 14,000lbs and over in Kalifornia? Please answer yes or no before opening the link below to get your answer.

Here is your answer. Did you get it correct?

This is why some of my neighbors is from California.

I had to rent a U-haul the other day to move a new couch I bought. No big ones to be had. Was told they are out of state and having a hard time getting drivers to get them back in state.

In any event, people don't think this can happen. I'm telling you it can with just a stroke of a pen. I haven't talked to anybody in Air Quality in a long time but last time I did the guy I talked to said CARB was trying to outlaw my 2006 John Deere tractor. I don't know about the rest of you but a 2006 tractor with 325 hours on it is brand new to me.

Kalifornia already outlawed commercial tractors below a certain year in the contracting sector. With a stroke of a pen Kalifornia outlawed construction euqipment. Small farmers are next. Or so I was told by an ARB employee.

Oh BTW, I was out of power a few weeks ago. Sure glad I had my genset for water and electricity. Too bad in 2028 people won't be able to buy a new gasoline genset in Kalifornia. link to genset ban.

So if anybody thinks it's not going to happen, you are mistaken. It's already happening in some states like mine. Is yours next? I think so. All it takes is a stroke of a pen.

So Fish, you are an informed person. You're up on a lot of stuff. Did the get the answer correct? What about the rest of you commenters from other states? Did you get it correct?

I bet most of you didn't know the laws that Kalifornia has implemented now did you? Coming to a state near you........:B

The electrical grid can only (with great difficulty) support all the electrical demand now (but not on a very hot or very cold day). eAutos will require almost 3000 NEW COAL FIRED electrical generating plants plus upgrade of all the substations etc. NO WAY.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Given the rate of advances in EV's, batteries, charging, infrastructure etc. IMHO it may take a bit longer than 2035, but not much longer before there won't be a need to ban CO2 emitting ICE's, because there won't be enough demand for mfg to continue to build them.

2035?? Maybe, maybe not. A number of auto makers (including GM) have already announce plans to fully transition to EV vehicles by 2035. And the European Union lawmakers have already proposed a full ban on gas vehicles by 2035; think Mercedes/BMW/Audi/Porche/Jaguar. 2035 will probably slide a few years, but probably not by much.

While you profit on the insanity?

Iowa is the nation's leader in renewable fuels production with 42 ethanol refineries capable of producing 4.5 billion gallons annually – including 34 million gallons of annual cellulosic ethanol production capacity – and 11 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce 410 million gallons annually.

EV owners are increasingly frustrated with home charging, and it should worry every electric car maker.

This is just another of many reasons why ICE vehicles will not be actually banned in 2035. Cheers to those with common sense.

More ignorant politicians jumping on the BS green wagon. IF it happens 2034 will be a big sales year for ICE vehicles.
The dummies haven't said what happens to the ICE you own. Will you have to sell out if state? Wil the trade-in be worth nothing because the dealer can't sell the used unit?
If the law only applies to new units, the price of used is going to sky rocket (more than it already has).
Even if enacted ICE units will be on the road till 2055 or later.

It doesn't ban registration in those states. Buyer will go to next state, buy what vehicle he wants, ICE Hybred, register it and drive it. Sometimes politicians have really, really stupid ideas. And, used vehicle prices will skyrocket again in those states.

Why will used prices rise? And if it doesn't happen until 2035 why do you care? Pure speculation and hyperbole.

Yes, politicians have bad ideas, yet we keep sending them back.
